Too wordy. Here's my two wordies. Stay together. Form Up. That's all you need to win PUGs.

Why players instantly go to their favorite places to die 'alone' in PUGs remains a total mystery.

I like this post. Just the right amount of smart-assery and real information.

Yeah, that's a good way to sum it up.

As an exclusive pug, I was totally conflicted the whole time reading it because it commiserates with pugs and insults them at the same time. I kept thinking "Yeah, amen to that brother. Wait. What?"

Nice post OP. Hysterical.

TL;DR

proberbly like it if i took the time :)

i haven't many problems with premades so long as they're not abusing obvious game flaws but most of the time i can't tell them from puggers if they're as rampant as everyone says they are.

someone made a post yesterday that if anything the premades are offereing a challenge pugs should learn from, sticking to team mates was something i had to learn because no mechwarriors of the past relied upon it as this one. so with the spills taken you learn how it happens and correct yourself, you pick up technique eventually.

seyya lone wolfers!

drive a DDC with ECM, make a text macro telling the pugs to "follow the ECM double D fatlas and shoot what he shoots you gitz".

This is pretty effective.

that's a good idea just add a very grumpy vet with a beer filled beard and cigar in his mouth as the "instructor" telling you this and i reckon everyone will take more heed to some of the fair advice the op has even when it's covered in humor. much better than some stuff i've seen{haven't seen yet} in training grounds.

Now you just need to convince the rest of the pubs to browse these forums and soon we'll have a perfectly dysfunctional population of psychopaths and war dogs in the server.
As long as average player skill increases, it will be worth it.

:)

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure he's already on his way.

@OP: Hilarious post, may have to come back to read it again next time a puggie teammate in an assault mech tells me that he abandoned the rest of the team to go cap because "this way I get to live".

All I can think of is Courage Wolf saying: Team kill PUG teammates. Win anyway.

ok, I get it

1. use Pugs as Cannonfodder so you can reap it up
2. don't be afraid to use them as diversions
3. they mean nothing and as long as you come out alive in the end it's worth it
4. they suck, and they deserve it.

Gotcha'

Lol, so the next time I party with pugs, derpwarriors, and other neckbeards I'll just disappear into the city, blizzard etc, and use them as the ultimately expendable pawns they are to forward my own goals, better than become a victim of their 1d10t ball hugging ways.

Seeing the Kubler-Ross model in MWO is quite humorous.

I had to look up Kubler- Ross, I knew it was the 5 stages of greif.

Well done.

I'd also add encouraging your teammates to the list. Some of my best games were ones our team lost because we had fun in text chat or there was a lot of support and encouragement from the dead. It will probably not change the outcome of that match, but anyone that's potty trained kids knows a little encouragement makes all the difference in the long run.

I find that people do tend to follow the markers if you use the 'commander' system. Though they don't really go much beyond "head towards that blip on the map". I think what happens is one guy gets it and then the rest kind of lemming their way after him. Also, it puts your text in a fancy gold color WOOO

great guide btw :P
