Anyone remeber the Solaris AOL game? Best 99 cents an hour in gaming history.

Unfortunately, it was $1.99/hour.. thankfully that only lasted a few months before LineOne/GameStorm launched :)

I have to agree its kinda funny none of the MPBT line made the list given that those games are IMO more closely related to what MWO is trying to become then the previous Mechwarrior/mechassult/mechcommander games where. Keeping that in mind I think everything will work itself out in the end, there are after all enough of us with MPBT experince here that PGI will get the benefit from those people reguardles of them acknowleging the game as providing valued insight into this current project.

Could be, active engaged players are usually what dev teams are looking for. Which means often forum post counts are taken into consideration. The silent type in the corner, may not deliver the goods when it comes to participating in the closed forums that go with the closed game.

They want feedback and bug reports out of beta players more than they want someone who will just play the game.

I played MPBT Solaris back in the day and I have to say that I was one of the best Jenner pilots. I loved playing the role of the scout and attacking the Atlas and the Cats! Although I would often take on the bigger mechs 1 on 1 and win, I loved the team battles. Best strategy...jump over your teammates alpha strike the biggest threat in mid air and jump behind them and shoot them in the mech nutz (gyros). Another favorite was jumping in the air and hitting a Cat in the back of the head at a low angle to knock out the gyros. Then take my time talking crap as I move in close and finish them off. I can't wait to figure out and configure the best Jenner for this game. HAS ANYONE HEARD IF THERE ARE GOING TO BE SWEET SPOTS IN MWO?

They didn't mention the Virtual World Battle Tech Centers. Anyone else play MechWarrior at any of the battle Virtual World Centers?

Yeah I understand it. It's just odd coming back into this format. Ever since getting into Reddit I use old fashioned forums only for betas. No spellcheck kind of sucks for someone with dyslexia too.

To this is would say "do they need to ask about MPBT to make a decent guess at whether or not a player played it."

I mean I do not believe there was a box on my list unchecked, if you asked a dev whether I had played that game or not, I would wager that to a man they would assume the answer to be yes. That said when making these surveys you want to get maximum information with minimum questions. You do not ask about every option, if you can get an accurate sample from fewer options. Data you don't need wastes your time and your players time.

MPBT should be on there even though it never made it out of beta. It was one of my fav games and had great potential.

MPBT: Solaris made it beyond beta. I paid to play that game for many years. Quite a few people here played that as well. 3025 was it's successor that never made it out of Beta.

Get Google chrome then you never are without spellcheck, from someone with dyslexia.

Whoops Microsoft, did you see that boat pull away from your dock, without you on it, guess you missed the boat on that one.

Best Jenner strategy was to flank wide. They had to make a choice of either committing their jenner to fight you one on one or let you wreck havoc from behind (because no one is going to turn their back to the opposing salt). This move was affectionately known as pulling a "sniper" after its creator.

Yeah that's good too, but it lacks the surprise of the fly over technique and it's vulnerable to more other mechs who have great long range capability. The main point is that most people dismiss the Jenner as a serious threat compared to the other tonnage gunning for them. That allows you to do a lot of damage assisting and supporting the attack of your teammates. Often times I found myself the last man standing (usually on leg) in a graveyard of shattered mech debris. Another good strategy in the FFA scenarios was to lead the big mechs to each other and then take them both out while they were fighting each other. Your brain is the best weapon you can add to your mech! A great pilot in a Jenner is just as deadly as a good pilot in an Atlas!
