I'm just curious more than anything, how do you put armour on your new mech/loadout, I don't claim that one side is better, I'm just wondering what the majority do.

Completely depends on the chassis and the variant.

Unless it's a light mech I leave the armor alone. Or unless I just have extra weight to play with. But if I do change the armor I round it off to a 0.5 ton.

To nearest .5 ton. The paper thin armor, of the mechs that are in the game now, is a function of the TT Universe, and the loss of technology. See TRO 3025, by TRO 3050 machines start showing up with more and more armor, as new stuff was decoded and manufactured from the Helm Memory Core.

Generally to the nearest 0.5 ton, but it depends on the mech.

For example: I see no reason to have 56 armor in the legs of a Dragon. With such a large snout people never shoot for the legs. And, well, if I can find anything better to use the tonnage for than armor for my makeshift shield / MG arm, then that'll probably get stripped down too. Depends on how the plan's implementation works out.

If no exceptional circumstances, though, yeah...0.5 ton.

Depends on the mech.

Many Gausscats are notorious for having 0 or 1 point of armour on the vestigial arms, while Atlai are usually armoured to the extreme,
