each light has its strengths and weaknesses; as it should be.

the commando is hard to hit and has excellent hardpoints for its tonnage, weakness is the damage it can take and the fact commando pilots tend to be crazy.

the Raven is quick but not as quick as other lights until you get to the 3L, it is an excellent spotter and infiltrator with ECM and mine has a firepower of 33 which is pretty good for a light, but again very delicate.

the Jenner is fast, good firepower for the weight class but not as flexible in the loadouts and the silhouette makes it a target compared to other lights

the spider is perhaps the fastest of all lights and as easy to blow away as tissue if something solid hits it. the spider might leave the party early but it will never be late. it is excellent for getting around the opposition and capturing points but must be ready to leave at the drop of a hat. in a group it is good at harrassing and hitting from the back but needs more than most to never slow down never get surrounded and never get tangled in terrain. with no missle hardpoints the spider depends heavily on energy weapons for a punch

for the light class the points are speed, manuever, heat management; speed is life, manuever is damage delivered and taken, the failure to manage heat means you lose all advantage the other two get you. know your tactical strengths and pick the mech to fit your play.
