What Kind Of Performance Can I Expect With This New System?

My plans are to have as follows:
intel i5 3570k (3.4 ghz, lets assume for now I don't overclock).
Geforce 680GTX 2 gigs of ram
16 gigs of 1600 mhz ram
POSSIBLE a solid state drive, I haven't decided on this yet.
With this build, what kind of FPS can I expect to get on max graphics with MWO?

See the following thread for performance. The hardware limitations stop at a 660 ti ... notice how the CPU is the bottleneck, currently.

i7 (LGA Socket 1155)
Intel Z77 Motherboard
16GB DDR 2400 (or 2800)
An SSD is typically better for running the OS, then just get a bunch of 1TB SATA3/6 Drives and run them in RAID.
Make sure you get a case with good airflow. Some newer cases also come 'water-cool' ready, if you're feeling ambitious. Hot-Swap Drive bays are also nice in cases, but expensive. Hybrid water cooling systems are also nice, like these:

There is no difference (ie not noticeable) between an I5 and I7 for gaming, most games don't even take advantage of 4 cores efficiently let alone any more than that.
The spec you outline above, will play any game on the market and very well.
MWO is a different kettle of fish because it's in a poorly optimized state right now and it's pretty much luck of the draw.

Get an ASUS mobo and use their AI suite to OC the CPU, I have an FX-4100 3.6 GHz OC'd to 4.2 GHz on a closed loop liquid cooler.

I think your right on the approximate FPS cap. I was running a pair of 690's @ 2560x1600 (No SLI of course) and saw the 60s with little spikes above it consistently. Out of curiosity I switched out the 690s for a trio of Tesla1070x (which is 12 690s or roughly 24 680s) @ 1TB of RAM each. I used a custom API which forces the trio to act as one regardless of the game settings. The FPS still stuck at about 62-64 with short spikes (a second or two) into the high 60s/low 70s.

Good Christ, is that a 30,000 dollar computer?

However, the 3 Teslas are custom ordered 1U GPU servers that we use for the engineering of distributed simulation environments.. Each one is just over $90K if you tried to buy this particular configuration outright. I had my IT guys populate a few sever racks with them and theses are spares, so I'm "borrowing" them until they are needed.

With v-sync enabled, i doubt you would ever have a bad day/night. nice specs too - kind of similar to mine.
I-5 2500, GTX 560ti 1Gb gddr5 ram, 8GB Ram, 20Mbps internet connection.
