Because minmaxxing kills variety and really changes the pace of the game into something Battletech isn't supposed to be? Because it evaporates strategy and dumbs it down to which math nerd figured out the best and generally least skilled method to play?

This game isn't BattleTech. I'm sorry, and if that's your expectation, you're playing the wrong game.

For all the hardcore TT fans, I hope that PGI implements custom/private matches soon so you guys can do the stock thing in a private game and have your fun. I really hope that happens, because there's a niche portion of the playerbase that wants that. They should get it, absolutely, but that shouldn't be forced on people.

But it's extremely unfair and myopic of you to dismiss mechbay customization as "evaporating strategy" and if you expect people to walk around in trash stock configurations (that's right trash, I said it) in a competitive environment, then you must be new to online gaming. You can't just dismiss other people's way of playing 'less skilled' because it isn't YOUR way. That's elitist bull and has no credibility.

Personally, I've never met a stock 'Mech that I liked. Ever.

You say this like it is a bad thing.

SSRM 4: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Streak_SRM-4
SSRM 6: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Streak_SRM-6

Pay particular attention to the weights and crit spaces, especially the clan versions. :)

Okay, I was wrong on the crit-slot thing. And...EVERYTHING else? <_< Physical tubes, heat, ammo...

The weight is as expected. 1.5t more, then another 1.5t more. We were talking about lights, right? So even the smaller weights are an issue.

Ammo per ton, something I didn't even consider. Not only that you need more tons of ammo because of consuption, every bigger launcher has ammo per ton. On second thought though, I bet MWO will not reflect that. Still, makes my initial statement no less true.

Oh and talking about clan-tech now? That's an unfair move, sir! :P We're still IS so let's calculate with those values. For clan-tech PGI has some serious homework to do anyway. They can't just throw that stuff in the game.

You mean because clan LRMs weigh less and are smaller, or because clan LRMs have no minimum range?

Why take a clan ssrm6 with 3 tons and 2 crits when you can take a clan lrm15 with 3,5 tons, 2 crits and 12 more damage without min. range? The lockontime and cooldown may be longer but 27 damage against 15. 6x 27=162 damage for a A1 with 21 tons of weapons, thats only 3 tons more then 6x is-srm 6 with 90 damage. Hope they dont let is-mechs use clanweapons after looking at this numbers.

So, it will remain as all computer games in which the player has options for customizing character attributes/abilities ever to exist have remained. Shocking. :)

Well, hopefully Clan LRM15s will at least have higher heat generation and ammo usage than SSRM6s, not to mention some of the LRMs missing.
Still, the point is definitely heard and received.

This is going to be a non-issue for quite a while, so there is no reason to start an uproar on the forums over clan SSRMs just yet. As far as min/maxing, I don't really mind because I still take some of my funky loadouts and still kick min/maxer @rse quite a bit.

Min/max loadouts aren't really the problem.. The real issue is the imbalance of the drop weights for teams. Even with the general matchmaking using the "match weight" system, you still see like 6+ Atlases a lot of the time. I know this has been said, but we really need something along the lines of the Battle Value system from tabletop, a max drop weight/c-bill limit for the 'Mechs on either side (ala MechWarrior4), or something else to really fix this issue.

ELO is a start for improving the matchmaking, but limiting the 'Mechs being dropped is a more pressing issue IMO. Not at the top of the list of things to do I know, but I would take this over ELO in the upcoming patches.

I just cannot wait for netcode fixes for the lights and fixes for whatever the hell is wrong with all the geometry in this game. So tired of sliding and sticking on buildings and hills! I am excited to see how this game is in a year or so assuming people are still playing. There better be!
