I've come to the conclusion that the 3L may be slightly overpowered. It's not because of ECM, It's not because it can mount two streaks and two medium lasers. It's because it can do all this AND mount a TAG. TAG!?! Surely I jest? But in fact I think it's the TAG that pushes it over the edge. It allows a raven to do too many things at once on the battlefield.
I will for example start a match by running out and trying to get a fix on how the enemy lances are deploying. Once I've done that I will maneuver into a position that I can TAG enemy forces from range allowing my LRM carriers on my team to fire on them to soften them up. After that I will then make a strafing / harassing run on the OPFOR long range fire-support units, tying them up and therefore taking pressure off my lancemates. Usually at this point someone has slipped past our lines to go for a cap. I then RTB and engage the capper until additional support arrives to finish them off. Mind you I'm racking up kills by going after soft spots on enemy mechs. Finally once my side has achieved a clear numerical superiority I then switch to hunter killer mode and seek and destroy what's left of the enemy.
The fact that this mech has the speed, firepower, stealth, and sensors all combined in one package to accomplish ALL of these missions on the battlefield is what makes this thing too good. But till they NERF the hell out of it, it's still fun to drive!
