I was right to clean out my old post followings. This is definately a topic that needed a reboot to the top. Derilict Debris Field- Mechs magnetize to hulls and the rotation of the chunks makes for challengeing firing lanes. Enough large floating chunks to walk to brawler range < 10m just so those ECM lovin types can still use their ECM, but Jump jets would be ill advised as you could just float away, unless you timed jump perfectly, or add a grapple system since it is open space.

All of these are great and with luck some of them will be realised in the distant future. Until then, I feel this thread should be pushed to try and encourage the developers to build on what we have. http://mwomercs.com/...g-map-quantity/

Badlands
Map Size: Large
Temperature: Humid
Weather Effects: Clear
Key Features: Rock Towers, Rolling Hills, and Grassy Plains

Errr, well, first of all, "Humid" isn't a temperature. Also, the Badlands are notorious dry, not humid. :P Maybe you meant "Arid". But again, not a temperature, but a climatology term.
You'll have to explain what temperature you are looking for when you say "Humid".

Also, Marshes would be Humid not just Hot. Badlands could be Hot (in the summer) or Cold (in the winter).

Excellent post otherwise.

I updated Badlands to Arid. Thanks.

I hope the devs are listening.

After playing a bunch of far cry, I'd love to see a tropical setting with maybe a lagoon where the colors are rich and vibrant and not muddled down with a grainy, ugly filter. And I want it to be pretty warm, too, but not be a stereotypical desert/volcano map we get when the ambient temperature is hot.

You all do realize that anything that has to do with jungle and marshland is basically a flat piece of land? Meaning, for mechs that's like a field of grass, only a bit wetter than usual.
No, jungle mountains don't count as it's always 1 big valley or river canyon between each, in other words no additional obstacles.

As to the OP, I'm pretty sure that devs have quite a few ideas on what they'll be making. This is nothing revolutionary.

Should change your name to DeadlyNerdRage, with the amount of negativity you've got. It's a discussion on a discussion forum - how revolutionary does it need to be before it meets your standards that makes it worthy of existing?

hmm... guess your right, looks like all tropical jungle regions are just completely flat land. I thought when I went to Hawaii, the Caribbean and the Phillippines I saw some hills and stuff with jungle on them, but I must have been mistaken.

So many great ideas! I really hope developers take a look at this thread. Personally i would like to see maps with weather efects like mist/haze, heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds (that carry rubble around) and that sort of stuff. Again great suggestions from OP and other people, keep up the good work :D.

Thanks. My goal is to give the developers possible new maps ideas we would love to see for MWO!

I love these map ideas they sound great but i was wondering if the mech could go completely underwater because some of the light mech's are mostly submerged in some of the maps but i would like a map where everyone is completely underwater it might not be possible but for those maps the ballistics would have a reduced range lasers and energy weapons would be reduced in heat and the missiles could be turned more into a torpedo type weapon for that map alone and what not but i think it would be really cool to see that kind of a thing and there would be an area that's land and people could fight on that as well. another idea is that you need thermal vision because the light wouldnt filter through but the water would also cut down on the range of the vision but people would still generate fair amounts of heat just to stay under so it would cool faster but have a higher idle heat due to environmental controls for the pilot

The players are a resource that creative teams need to help them make decisions what they could do next and this thread is the best Map resource they have. While I am sure they may have thought of some of these themselves, they probably didn't go as far as the collective ideas here have.

Keep them coming.

that new stuff is awesome!! especially event horizon! wow!

but wouldn't heat dissipation on the space maps actually be pretty bad? because space is a vaccuum your mech's heat has nowhere to go. space suits have the same problem.
