This question has been on the back of my mind for a while now. The end-of-match screen has a lot of information on it and seems to rank people by experience earned. It got me curious to know what most people consider to be a good measure of success.

I'll chime in with my own answer: helping your team win. That's always my first priority when playing. And that's what gives me the greatest satisfaction. Even if it means standing on our base getting blasted by the entire enemy team but surviving just long enough so the rest of my team can get back in time to defend and take the win.

I think you meant "What does it take to be good at MWO."

Because being good at MWO means little to nothing, beyond getting to pat yourself on the back for being good at a video game.

And, really, almost every choice on your list is applicable.

Where's the option for "does not use 'bad netcode' as an excuse for failure."

When you start whining about the game... (newbies always come in rose tinted glasses)

Eh, you can have fun and still totally suck.

I'm all for "just having fun" and all, but I have no illusions that "I'm having fun!" means "I'm good at this game!" :)

Wins, just wins. Not that I value winning above all else (having a good time is actual priority number one), but if you want to decide how 'good' you are, I'd say it's all about whether you could help your team claim victory at the end of the day or not. The lone mech who survived long enough as a distraction being pounded on by the entire enemy team to let everyone else then come from behind and kill them all or make a capture win, is the hero, even though he deals little damage and gets a "death" on the record.

Kills are nice, but I've seen some pretty incredible kill stealers (not the kind who just happen to get the last shot - the kind who actually wait till the last second to contribute their fire). Damage is nice, but precision or shots in the back can end a mech with very low amounts of damage.

one thing I like to do is distract half of the enemy team in various ways.
TBH some of the best tactics are not on this poll but very limited view on which tactics are what.
why did you even bother with the last one, its a team based online game????

Lonewolf is not someone who is new and doesn't know anyone.
Good lonewolf will have mixed tactics based around how the team he is on is functioning.

I guess your poll is to prove that team tactics works best, remember team tactics are also very predictable and its were longwolfs get the play :)

If i'm having fun I don't give a rat's *** how 'good' I am at a video game.
