its not something you can do for 20 minutes and stop, lifestyle change means i cannot sit and play for hours.

I just started playing EVE again. Used to be a 0.0 pilot, but I grew tired of it after awhile. I may go back out there, but not until I get more assets built up.

Used to play from 2004 till 2010 - but it got more and more time consuming, not good if you have a job and family and stuff.
Was part of BDCI / MC, I actually do miss it, I just dont have the time to sit there 4 hours or more without brek ,looking at POSs or spinning ships..

I'm same name in Eve as I am here.

Been playing for 6 years, done pretty much everything it has to offer atm. Taking a break and setting myself up for some MWO addiction instead ;)

Eve's so sweet! I'm currently paying for not logging. I wish to do the same here.

Aye. another EVE player here. I was in just before the one after Trinity, IIRC and I am still there though I quite often take time off by basically just keeping skills topped up. Most recently it's SWTOR that has been pulling me away but now I have another toy... *sigh* I still really like EVE though and I am happy to pay the sub to keep my SP ticking over.

I haven't been subscribed for a month now. However, I was a combat pilot for Intrepid Crossing, a large portion of my time was spent repelling Goon and Razor incursions into our sov.

Favorite ship is the Harpy, and clearly, as any sensible person would say, my favorite faction is the Caldari State!

Image related, it's my character "Tractus Vesica".

Some of the best times I had in 0.0 were before jump bridges were implemented and convoys of freighters out of empire space were a necessity to survive in 0.0.

I will say this about EVE, it ******* ruined just about every MMO or non-fps multiplayer game for me afterwards. Everything ends up feeling shallow and pointless with no substantial goals.

We can only dream of what would happen if Piranha and CCP teamed up to deliver a Battletech persistent univers.

Actually, this is happening. CCP is making a little (free-to-play) first person shooter called DUST 514 that will hook into EVE Online. And when I say "hook in to" I mean that (to my understanding) the economy will be unified with EVE's, DUST player groups will be able to join EVE alliances, and ships in planetary orbit will be able to conduct space-to-surface strikes on DUST maps, as demonstrated at this year's EVE FanFest.

The full DUST 514 keynote from FanFest 2012 can be found over yonder.

Only bad thing I can say about what I've seen so far is that it will, at least at first, only be on PS3.

This is the only thing that can get me to play EvE again.

Played EVE as well, and I made it into one of the best Alliances, but I just couldn't keep up the pace I felt was needed. So I liquidated most of my assets, bought plex'es so I could keep training, and started doing other stuff in RL. I always hoped I would get in the "mood" again, but EVE lost its appeal to me.

What killed EVE for me, was the Lag Fests of 0.0 Powerblocks. The ship designers for our Alliance spent more time combatting Lag than they did making interesting ships, although they did come up with the T3 Tengu fleet. Also, you never really seemed to go anywhere, even if you Bridged half the known universe, you invariably ended up shooting TCU's since they paid the Alliance bills.

People I started with logged in less and less, Alliance politics got more and more boring, battles got bigger and bigger with more and more lag. I left because it was time, but I haven't sold my accounts. One mission runner in a Tengu and another Pilot to spend all his money. Can fly anything Caldari and Amarr, but little else.

"I made it into one of the best Alliances"

And which alliance might that be?

Not so sure but wasn't the T3 Tengu fleet a Pandemic Legion creation?

been mostly off about the 0.0 alliance tactics but i heard they used them quite effectively due some Titan bonus support or so.

CCP actually won the war on lag; they added a feature to the game called Time Dilation, or TiDi, that slows down time for a system to counteract lag. I haven't seen it in action myself, but all reports I've seen from those who have are that it's been quite a successful addition to the game.

EVE player here. And by "player" I mean "badposter" and "log on to change skills and chat with friends before logging off for another week".

You need to devote a lot of time to the game to make it worthwhile. MWO fills that "log on, instant PvP" need quite nicely.

Swing by sunny TXW-EI in Syndicate sometime and say "Hi" if you want, just make sure you come insured.

Considering we've never attacked your Sov I'm not entirely shocked that you managed to hold it so well.

You are our prefered space to crap up for a weekend jaunt though: Mainly because you guys actually fight. Unlike say -A-.

looking at how they dumbed down the ui again and made changes to the mining barges and exhumers...aint ever goin back to eve... they are making it stupid so that retarded console players can pick it up and play easily.... its no longer a thinking game

That's nonsense. The UI is not dumbed down, it just finally joined this century with a load of features that should have been there ages ago. Also, which changes? When the game started there were no dedicated mining vessels at all that they're being tweaked again is no big deal, every ship has been tweaked at some point and the current programme is to literally adjust every single ship, class by class, to rebalance the game. It's very much a thinking game, as the many people who try to get into it and quit frustrated should tell you; your nostalgia and assumed superiority are getting in the way of reality, I am afraid.
