Sorry i wouldn't. could be possible, i only have experience with small scale ones.
going by this page the navy is still just using a conductive sabot. and the gap between the projectile and rails would make propellant useless.

As for the appearance, I think it should be a visual shockwave, showing the disruption of the air surrounding the muzzle of the weapon. It's hypersonic, so there wouldn't be much to see for the projectile.
Just throwing that out there.

i had to look this up when i read this. i never noticed that before, that is hilarious. this brings the matrix to mind as well.

still, i think it would sound more like that than what we get in the games now. actually, MW3s gauss sound wasn't that bad.

I like the silver meteor idea though.
I think I concur with this. However, why does everyone think they are going to see something that size travelling that fast through the air... hmmm... Trace, perhaps, but the actual slug?
More importantly, how does it feel to shoot and be shot by one? Hehe....

Unfortunately both of these are railguns, not Gauss guns. There is a significant difference.

I hope there's a realistic sound engine with distance delay, like what DCS A-10C has. Seeing a teammate get pegged by a Gauss round from half a mile away and then hearing the thunderclap of it being fired a couple seconds later would be awesome.

Not really. They both magnetically propel the projectile. The difference is in how they generate the magnetic fields but magnetism is magnetism is magnetism. It's universal.

Realism is boring. It's not like everyone gets permanent retinal damage every time a laser goes off, or deaf from rounds the size of bowling ball firing. Next thing you know, people will be demanding that mech pilots that haven't been killed in battle will suffer from cancer from inhaling all the burning carcinogens.
I think the artists and design teams will do a fine job in creating a rendition that works with the style of the new game.
