I guess it could pack more firepower than an Atlas, but be even more clumsy than a Stalker. That's a pretty specialized niche, I'd enjoy shooting at it.

It's basically a 100 ton assault with a short but wide profile and AC20s in both arms. About equal armament (given fewer missile and energy hardpoints for most part) and should probably have about equal maneuverability.

TBH, Alex's King Crab reminds me a bit of a squished Dire Wolf. lol.

His redesign (which was sorely needed so it wasn't a flying saucer with toothpick legs) looks great, but I'd rather have a Mauler.

I've wanted the base model Crab since I first heard about MW:O. It was my favorite mech in MW2: Mercs. I know we've already got a few 50 ton non-jumpers, but it's that long hood, sloping out away from me that won me over in mercs. It's a muscle mech. Needs pinstriping, flames, a blower, and Dio.

Never been a fan of the King Crab, personally, but us crabby old men need to stick together.

It'd be great to have a low profile Assault mech.

Hopefully it won't get stuck in between those spaces you think you can fit through. Dual AC 20 assaults would be nice in a brawl.

I'd gladly pilot a CGR-1A5, CGR-1A9, CGR-3K, or "Challenger" CGR-SB.

no..

Divide the glass canopy into thirds, the head section is the center third, adn the other two are side torso, with CT being a bit above the head and a lot below the head.

simple and logical

I have always liked the look of these mechs. When they came out they were unique and had their own style.

I would pay real dollar money for this 'mech to be in the game. Hands (or pincers)-down my all-time favorite 'mech.

MAULER!!! Yeah.. iconic merc mech, was on the box and got me playin' mercs for windows 95, haha. I even had the toy, where the battle blast was on the... groin. lol

The proble with the King Crab could be its special rule with the AC/20 being spread across arms and side torso.

The low difference in variants should not be a big deal. The different Atlai aren't that different either, and they still managed to give them variant hard points.

KGC-000
Ballistic Hardpoints: 2 Left Arm, 2 Right Arm
Missile Hardpoints: 1 Left Torso
Energy Hard Points: 1 Right Torso

KGC-000b
Ballistic hardpoints: 1 Left Arm, 1 Right Arm
Missile Hardpoints: 2 Left Torso
Energy Hardpoints: 2 Right Torso

KGC-0000
Ballistic Hardpoitns: 1 Left Arm, 1 Right Arm
Missile Hardpoints: 1 Left Torso
Energy Hardpoints: 3 Right Torso

Now every variant has the same number of hard points and all variants should allow interesting options.

No, King Crab is 100t. The only 150-tonner listed on Sarna is the Omega.

The Scorpion BattleMech is 55 tons.

In TT rules, a weapon which had its crits split between two body sections had its field of fire limited to whichever section had a smaller firing arc. Thus, in MWO the same result could be had by removing the lower-arm and hand actuators from the 'Mech (and, IIRC, some later variants of the KGC did exactly this).

Given way things are dragging on I figured the prime and low tech variants for first two, comstar clanbuster mech due out in 52 or so as third variant.

Which would have something like

KGC-001
1 ballistic each arm
2 missile left torso, 1 right torso
1 energy right torso

People would kvetch about not being able to get the Elite proficiencies on it. Can't say I'd blame them too much if that actually happened. PGI's already making up Hero variants, they could make up a non-hero variant to round out the requisite 3 variants.
