To the min/max crowd there's not much extra there, but that was figured that out when they announced it. But here's the thing it can do, which might be of interest to the table top/canonist crowd - it can effectively mimic the Mongoose MON-66, 66b and 67.

Death's Knell is not showing up in pilot lab, hence I cant upgrade pilot skills. Its the only Commando i own shows I have 1 out of 5 variants but the only four there are the ones I dont own. I own 23 Mechs, did the UI run out of space? Can the pilot skills be upgraded? Has anyone else got this problem or is it my computer ?

I really find this mech (haven't bought one myself) to be rather generic and bland. Also really easy to take care of, just blow off both arms and walk away to deal with something more threatening.

Playing around in the Mechlab, you are going to have to give up a lot to get 2 LL (loss of armor and no 210XL). However 1 LL and 3 ML is easily doable with Endo and FF.

Edit: 2LL can be done with FF Endo XL200 and 143 of 178 armor

I find this chassis very lack luster.

No ECM, NO Jump Jets, only energy hard points and the engine cap is 210 which only puts you at 136KPH.

At least he is cheap.

Edit: I guess my biggest issue is that he a Hero that isn't really unique in any way. He's basically a lighter, more vulnerable Jenner with less hard points.

I feel like I'm beating up on puppies with my ECM Commando 2D. Please give the players who bought the Hero Commando ECM - it's a terrible disincentive for them to get destroyed by an ECM Commando and will turn players who spent good money / MC away from this game!

Seems I need to elaborate: ECM is for messing with enemy locking and radar, right? And what do missiles do? Oh yeah, lock on. Streaks are still annoying when my ECM's countered, mind. In the absence of ECM, as is the case on the Death Snail, I hide behind things to break a lock.

ECM won't help them against your streaks. If ECM was enough to save them from your ECM Commando, the Spider would be a viable light mech right now. In case you haven't tried the Spider yet, it isn't if there is even a single ECM/Streak light to oppose you.

Yeah streak missiles are totally broken at the moment, and the ability of ECM to deny streaks to other Commando, Spider, Raven and Jenner variants makes the 3L Raven and 2D Comamndo broken overpowered builds. The light mech balance in this game is a joke right now. When are they going to address this? Maybe slow Spider and Hero commando sales will jolt PGI out of their slumber.

Lovin it, good enough energy hardpoints for me, getting plenty of kills.

Only thing that makes me sad, when both of my arms get blown off. Ha ha

You need to scroll the list down already got mine speed tweaked ;)


A fun mech and really nice damage output with the 4 medium Lasers for it's weight. Especially with the range of targetting ability in it.

The only problem with it is not a lack of ECM but rather the serious overpowered nature of streaks right now that tear it to bits in seconds once a streak loaded mech gets within 270m and gets a lock. So not really a problem with the mech itself but rather reinforcing the problem with streaks again.

Have shelved mine unless I know the rest of the guys I have grouped with are running ECM's which is a shame really :)

SSRMs, ECM, plus a 30% boost in income would be pretty friggin OP at the moment.

Hero mechs are meant to be unique, not overpowered or underpowered but different enough to set themselves apart from their stock variants and the Death's Knell just isn't unique in any way other than its not unique in any way. Without a missile hardpoint or the ability to mount ECM this has no advantage over its fellow COM variants, but wait, what about that 30% bonus? means **** all when you can't stay alive long enough because you get torn apart by streaks because you can't mount ECM, or can't deal damage because your arms get torn off as soon as someone with missiles looks at you. 30% bonus to 0 is still 0.

Seriously guys, you are meant to make me want to buy this with real cash, not a superior variant with CBills
