I was thinking of getting some Spiders just to be contrary, guess I might as well just for S&G's.

Raven 2L is easy mode. Why run a Spider? when ECM plus Streaks equals cakewalk, once you negate any opposing ECM lights

I think they should re-assign ecms only to lights without missile hard points, would require light pilots to aim again.

PS. Jenners where annoying mostly running in circles, now we have same thing with jump jets and ECM + perfectly polished net code...

I think part of the problem is the extra missile hardpoints were probably intended to be used for NARC. Of course nobody is dumb enough to take NARC over a missile system when it weighs half as much, has half the crit slots, oh and it homes in on targets making it the easiest weapon in the game to use.
Look at the stock 3L: NARC, TAG, BAP, ECM, 1xSRM6, 2xMed lasers. It was intended to be used for scouting and harassment, but it has turned into the spearhead of every assault because the hardpoint system is so flexible. The same thing happened with the Catapult chassis.
The only way I see to keep ECM mechs from using multiple streaks is to turn NARC, TAG, BAP, AMS, ECM, etc. into their own weapon category and adjust all the mech chassis to support a limited number of slots for that hardware (some chassis/variants have more slots so they can fill their particular roles). That means turning one of the 3Ls missile slots into an electronic warfare slot, and so on. At the end of the day that slot might not be carrying NARC in it (unless they make it better), but it sure as hell wont be carrying a second streak launcher either.
Also, the removal of R&R has had an impact in this area IMO. There are no longer any consequences related to running expensive loadouts, so we are seeing everyone make a shift towards raw power builds instead of builds that focus on balancing power and cost efficiency.

the spider is like the ninja jumping around doing all this acrobatics. But the raven is like a guy with a sSRMgun. you never bring a sword to a gunfight

It is also an incredibly useful mech in conquest mode. In assault mode, it blows, since it just isn't built for stand up fights, but where its mobility takes it from crisis to crisis, or cap to cap.
Yes, Ravens with Streaks are OP, and eat non-ECM Spiders. Then again, what non-ECM lights don't they give major issues to?
Note that many discos I see now are the non-ECM variants of mechs with ECM. People want the ECM variants, but don't want to grind the non-ECM stuff to get the proficiencies.
If you're taking a Spider, go to Conquest mode, and as 1 guy on my team said when I was the only one left, "Go Supafly go!". We won that game
Of course, I have a native 280 ping from Australia, so it may be that lagshield thing.

Not quite. It is the 8.6 or 1.4 factor
The Spider comes in at just under the 8.6 factor (255 max out of 258)
Commando and Raven reach the 1.4 limit before the 8.6
Jenner has an 8.6 limit of 301 maxs at 300, so may be slightly faster. Speed Tweak percentage will sort that out.
Yes, it's minor I know. The Spider will outturn a Jenner anyway.
Jenner is a better all round mech though.

It's as fast as every other mech. Speed is capped.
