It's a nice visual effect, but I just don't like the head bobbing. I would like the camera to stay as fixed to the mech chassis as possible. Is there anyway to adjust, or turn off, the new head bobbing effect?

If the camera stay fixed on mech chassis, the camera would bobbing like a hell.

What you want is a hover camera, and I dont like that.

I want to feel that I'm inside a machine that walks, not Hoverwarrior Online.

Smack the back of her head and tell her to slow down.

Of course I am referring to the mech you are riding in.

Oh, another "Can we make MWO more like every other FPS?" thread. ^_^

Heh, I guess, like every other FPS. In real life, when driving my car, obviously I don't own a mech, my brain filters the frame of the car. It's really distracting in-game.

Has it always been there? I don't recall the side of the cockpit in my periphery before...

I believe head bobble will stay to create immersion and simulation.

The camera doesn't bob. The cockpit model bobs (with the movements of the 'Mech) around the camera. If the camera moved with the body of the 'Mech, a lot of people would complain, and some would get motion-sickness.

Just play with it zoomed in a little, some cabs I'll play with the zoom set at 1.5 so it isn't so distracting.

FYI, the in-game cockpit and camera work exactly like your eyes in real life. As you walk, your head bobs up and down slightly, but your eyes remain focused on whatever you're looking at, and you don't notice it unless you're trying. Same with the camera as the cockpit bobs around it.

Personally speaking, going with the whole simulator feel I'd rather the camera did bob with the way the cabin moves (but without shaking the reticle). But I still imagine it'd irritate the hell out of a lot of people. Still, 'head bobbing' can usually be turned on and off in options these days, so it'd be nice as an option. What disconcerts me however is that while the torso/cockpit bobs so much, the sides don't move at all. This is ridiculously obvious when in a Dragon cockpit.

I think there should be more bob. Specifically, when I hit an enemy mech with my AC10 I see the torso recoil back to the side a bit on the side it was hit on. The fact that the pilot is not seeing this is part of why I think AC shots go wide "for no reason." Since the "head" of my Centurion cannot move independently of the torso, I should see my camera jerk if I get pegged by something. It would create more immersion and help me to place my shots sometimes.

I totally get that. However, in real life, my mind would filter out my head moving, so I wouldn't notice my head moving relative to the cockpit. This is especially true when I am intiating the movement. For example, if I go into a high-g corner on the race track in my car, my neck muscles will hold my head basically still relative to the car chassis. Since I am driving, I know the forces that are coming.

In the game, if I move my Jenner torso left or right, it seems that the pilots head almost hits the wall. If you convert that to real life, it would be like the drivers head in a car almost hitting the side window. When is the last time you saw a race car drivers head tilt to the OUTSIDE of the corner.

My point is, head bob is LESS like real life, since I can't use my neck muscles to counteract the bob (giggity). Even if your head bobs in real life, you wouldn't notice it.

Someone said it should be an option and I totally agree with that.

Simple. Turn off the metal music when you are playing. Problem fixed. NEXT QUESTION PLEASE!
