The 50% alpha layer used to darken the waiting screen, as well as the list of players, is still visible when the count-down / start-up sequence begins, making it too dark to fully appreciate the start-up animation.

Suggested fix:

The waiting screen / player list should be darkened (as is).

As soon as the start-up sequence begins, this layer should be removed as well as the list of players in the match — leaving only the countdown at the upper center of the screen.

To further explain what I am referring to to, currently the start up sequence looks like this:

What I am suggesting is that the dark screen and player list be removed once the start up sequence begins..like this:

It's a subtle difference, but I think it would make the start up sequence more immersive.

Anyone else want to see the startup animation without the darkened screen and player list?

One more bump before I just assume nobody else is bothered by this...

I would like it, personally. The darkness is only there to make the names clearly visible, but even without it the names should be legible to most people, short of a contrast sensitivity issue with their eyes.

Yeah. The only reason the darkening screen is there is for the player list to show up clearly.

But once the start-up sequence begins, that means the match is ON. And therefore, the player list is no longer needed...as well as the darkening layer used to make that list more visible.

Once the start up sequence is initiated, the screen should be just as clear as it is during normal play (but with the countdown).

I also would like that darkening to be removed

Hey!

Garth? Can you bend an ear or two to see if this is possible?

It would REALLY be nice to fully appreciate the excellent start-up sequence animations done for the various mechs without the dark screen and player list obstructing them.

:)

If not, that's cool...I know there's more important things on the plate.

Hey PGI...thanks for changing this!

Not sure if it was just a logical conclusion when revamping the match GUI...or if my input had any affect on the decision...either way, I appreciate it. Thanks!
