I play relatively often 5/10 matches a day and i havnt seen a jenner in weeks. is it purely the lack of ECM or some other factors conspiring against the guy?

its the lack of ecm along with the vulnerability to ecm. they used to be the top of the food chain with lights, much more effective than both ravens and commandos, but this is no longer the case, jenners still pack a decent punch, at least the D can, but its difficult to make streaks work well, i usuall use 2 4 packs, gives em a good slap in the face to the slower mechs, but 3L's will ruin your day, like they do to any light. the raven 3L has taken the spot the Jenner D used to hold.

It's a combination of lack of ECM and streaks. Most people in light mechs cant shoot a laser or Srm for ****, so the only way these ***** can reliable do damage is with their lock on 100% hit weaponry. Certain variants of Jenner can carry streaks, yes, but without ECM they don't have a way to counter the enemies', thus having to rely on those strange arm mounted weapons that shoot light where you point them.

There are still Jenner pilots around that can still do well mind you, just that they certainly are a rarity.

Purley the lack of ECM. As they are not being able to ssrm the other Ligths, they are screwed without. Wich shows the imbalance of ECM. Imho.

Yes but with less lag shield we can neuter the almighty raven that much faster!

Played with my Jenner yesterday and had a fun time doing it. Together with a friend who was operating a Raven, we did some good damage :D

JENNER

From Lynnepedia, the inaccurate, word-of-mouth mech encyclopedia

For other uses, see Jenners Imbalanced (disambiguation).

The Jenner (JNR-D, F, K) is an extinct Inner Sphere Light Mech (35T) that originated from the halls of House Kurita, although sizable packs have been observed in the ecosystems of other IS Houses as well.

Its closest relative was the also extinct Raven, the two forming the subfamily Lagshieldius of the family of Light Mechs. The closest living relative of the Jenner is the Commando. A Cicada was once incorrectly thought to have been a Jenner in the fringe worlds since added to Comstar's Dark List, leading to a short revival in the sales of post-extinction Jenner merchandise.

<Snip>

... Like many light mechs that evolved in protection of the Lagshield, the Jenner was entirely fearless of Assaults. This fearlessness and its inability to mount ECM made the Jenner easy prey for RAVENS.

<Snip>

Wait what was I doing again?

The Jenner was too good for too long.

I admit part of the reason I enjoyed playing the Raven 3L was to target all the Jenners that had been running around with little fear after the removal of collisions. The Jenner was *ALWAYS* my favorite kill in a Raven 3L, it was just so satisfying to kill those annoying little ******* which could no longer be knocked down and killed while face down on the ground.

Now with the updated netcode I really don't need to lead any of the lights to hit them with lasers.

I am proud to say that I helped contribute to the near-extinction of these Jenners. The Jenner kills made up a rather large portion of the XP gained by my Raven 3L.

While the Raven 3L will hold a special place in my mechlab for it's contribution to the near extinction of Jenners it is time to let some of my other mech designs contribute to the destruction of the Jenners. The recent patch with fixes to netcode (or whatever change was made to reduce the necessary lead distance on lights) is now allowing this to be possible. Thanks PGI.

I think the Jenner -F should have ecm! Also, why not this new commando! It's missile and ecm, paired, that are the problem! In my opinion.

I have plenty of spare Jenner parts I could donate in the interest of preserving outdated technology...

Not any of mine.
Personally, I think the lite pilots who are now running ECM are the ones who couldn't pilot a lite mech anyway.
Or...its just the flavor of the month.Either way...
I STILL run my Jenny, I STILL get solid kills,I STILL make all of you chase me.
Learn and adapt.
Now, hopefully with some implementation to the lagshield issue, maybe you guys will finally stop your little rants.
But no matter what they do to this game , Im still out there, waiting to drop you, IN my Jenny.

I also feel the Jenner is a solid mech! If, the F had ecm the ratbirds and Com-D would really have something to fear!

I still drive my mastered jenner all the time, sure it goes splat to 3L and 2D swarms but otherwise it still works perfectly fine.
