I would be alright with a 3rd person PoV if and ONLY if all the following requirements are meet...

...No weapons can be fired while in 3rd person
...No movement allowed while in 3rd person
...You can see your mech and only YOUR mech

The only reason I would want any form of 3rd person would be so I can look at how awesome my paint job looks outside of the mechlab.

But this would be counter to the fact that it will help newbies 'pilot' their Mech better.. How could you KILL the new players like that!! You will ruin the game!!! ;)

I wonder where those 5000 votes came from when there are allegedly only 1500 to 2000 people playing MWO...

could be that those of us who were in during CLOSED BETA have grown tired of the gladiatorial fights we are slogging through, making support tickets on bugs and various other issues only to see the bugs or issues be ignored, or to watch half baked ideas get implemented and are ONLY speaking out on something we KNOW as well as we know our addresses will kill the game and want to do our best to stop it?

I didn't get a Founder's package because I wasn't confident in the game I saw. It's gotten A LOT better, but there is still a lot shaking my confidence in PGI's ability to deliver more than a gladiator style slugfest and inspire me to dump my entertainment budget in (which I would, whole heartedly, if this game ever gets past this "proof of concept" stage.) 3rd person view would be a "deal breaker" for me.

I will quit at the moment I see 3rd person view went live in any incarnation other than a training grounds or tutorial environment.

The reasons have been well stated, from the advantages it offers to the opportunity for exploits to the fact that it is opposed to the spirit of the game in the minds of most players. No other question has inspired so many of us to agree on one topic.

This 1500 to 2000 players is the estimated players online at the same time, not the total number of players.

Once again, you're going to get the same responses from majority of us. This poll has gotten old as is the reason to post it.

Move on to something more productive.

this is a tough one for me. not because i do not want 3rd person view..... because i dont, but because i do understand that if they dont figure out ways to bring new blood to the genre, then the core fans might not be able to sustain further projects by them selves. its a tough call indeed. i voted no because of my personal feeling that 3rd person view would allow less experienced players to be competetive against much more experienced players due to the increased amount of 360 degree visual input they would be getting compared to those limiting themselfs to the cockpit view. However I would fully understand the potential financial reasons for making this change and would just hope that if it has to happen that they find some way of doing it that doesnt cause people to have to switch to it in order to keep from being taken advantage of on the battlefield.

it will always be productive to keep the voice of our dissent alive until the devs come right out into the open and state on record that 3rd person is going away and it will never show up again. Till then, this IS productive.

Please please please please please please please please please please please

please do not add a 3rd person view.

The intensity and fun of the game is due to the forced first-person perspective. Players who refer the immersion of the 1st person will be at a huge disadvantage vs those who toss the experience out the window to gain the advantage of 3rd person.

Thinking especially of the times when lights are able to stay in the sweet spot behind a slow assault mech and pound away at their rear. This tactic will be gone. If you can't torso-twist + ctrl + mouse to get a quicker view of your surroundings, then you need to start practicing.

What's the point of a 3rd person camera?
I feeel,it would somehow lower the MW factor and also the team factor as then people would go solo and be able able 2 see whose firing on your back and just ruin the game.
So no no no..to 3rd person.
But if it's in spectator mode-then ok.

Okay folks, here we go again. As we all already know, they <PGI/IGP> are 'considering' the addition of third person views. We had a poll in which over 5000 people voted and said no. That poll has well, been altered to remove the poll itself. So, vote again.

Having worked through MW3 onwards including Mech Assault 1 & 2 I would favour switchable views (HUD, from left of legs and above to rear) however I must stress, I would not want to loose the current HUD view.

Sadly, PGI doesn't seem to care.
