That alone should show the interest and alarm the topic causes.

I have consistently stayed positive on these forums, I defend the dev team over and over again, but this time the complaint is justified.
If this is implemented, we might as well welcome back the days of MW4 where everyone stood behind the crest of a mountain, jumped up and launched their LRM volley.

Anything like that outside from this gets a big NO

This is seriously the dumbest idea PGI has brought to the table and they need to just bloody drop it.

Showing the twist can be easily done by filming a video or creating an animation.
If you wnt to teach somebody, teaching him in an enviroment different from what he'll encounter is counter-productive as they'll develop bad habits.

While 3rd person would suck, it is far from the deciding factor between the two entirely different games. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
Many people play MWO because of it's Battletech base. Let's keep on track here.

I do agree, what I said is that if devs absolutely want 3rd person view I'm fine with this. Until it's confined in the training grounds and nowhere else

It's definitely a deciding factor. The fact is, the exclusive 1st person view is one of Mechwarrior's stronger selling points (at least for me and many other people I know). I don't want to get into a debate about it, but you have to admit adding 3rd person view would lower the overall value of the game for a multitude of reasons.

Except for many of us it might well be a deciding factor. No other issue that has been brought up as a possibility has made me even consider whether I would abandon MWO, implemented in a general way that impacts general gameplay it might just do that for me. I know I'm not alone in that, I probably wouldn't end up in Hawken but as the other thread says the only way to make them listen is to leave, and 3PV is so far the only that has made me consider leaving as a possibility.
That said much as I don't even think it has a place in a training area (there are better and well enumerated options elsewhere on the forum) I could grudgingly live with that. I'm in a very "wait and see" place on this subject.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want 3rd person in game.
I just don't agree with the notion that 3rd person is one of the only deciding factors between MWO and Hawken. MWO is nostalgic to many of us, because it is based off of Battletech. MWO has a galaxy of information and background to go with it, while Hawken... Doesn't.
I played Hawken, It doesn't really qualify as a mech game IMO.
