I stand here on the metaphorical shores waiting to embark on a journey of discovery and wonder. Onward soldiers, to a better tomorrow where PUGs don't suck.

So actually your given advice did not work at all?
Actually.. my given advice wasn't heeded.. and they were crushed just as I envisioned.. as if I'd seen that time and time again.
Example: Conquest in Frozen city:
Told them: Let's grab Epsilon, then head to kappa or sigma, don't go to theta, they're probably going to go to theta en masse.
Told them if we go from Epsilon to kappa we can catch their line from the side and focus them down 1-2 at a time. (they will spread out)
What actually happened: (because nobody reads)
Whole team goes to theta, faster mechs get to theta first and start capping.. slower mechs get caught 3-7 on the highground and slaughtered, faster mechs try running back around to the high ground to assist, arriving just in time to fall on top of the corpses of the slow mechs.. 0-7 inside of 4 minutes. I capped Kappa and did as much as I could.. but 1v8 is a losing fight.
It happened exactly as I envisioned it.

So, so true, also you can crap on their heads from here. Totally worth it.

That said I do feel it incumbent on me to say that your thread while poignant and incisive is in fact flaunting the SCHEDULE. You will find that L2P Noobs is actually the tertiary topic in two weeks. Now while i respect you and your opinions, and understand your eagerness to get a jump on the topic you must give everyone a fair chance to prepare, that's why we have a schedule.

If this were a discovery.. there would be hope.. but alas.. this is common sense that just isn't common enough.

I have had five kinds of experiences with my groups.
1. The Whiners: They start typing instructions while whining about how their pugs never do as they tell them. Last night I had a guy still typing whines 6 minutes INTO the fight. We may have won, but he and his friends sat there whining instead of fighting. No names mentioned but he and his buddies are on my list to use as cannon fodder.
2. The Silents: Everyone sticks together, level of focus fire determines if we win.
3. The Louds and Prouds: Random Premades talking smack who tell everyone what to do as they charge into the entire enemy pack then whine for the rest of the match about everyone not supporting them. If you charge directly into the enemy and die I will be too busy laughing to console you since I never reinforce stupidity.
4. The Starfish of Heroes: This is the group that treats every drop like a Trial of Position.
5. The Players: The group splits into lances without commo, fire support stays behind the center mass, scouts go out and maintain targets instead of just being spazzy and we win.
Clearly I see mixes of the above, but you have to ask yourself when you are pugging, "Which one am I" and why am I not part of the last group.

Yeah, that doesn't happen frequently, unless the team you're facing is huffing paint.
I'm not saying the straight pug team will have a lot of wins, but it gives them a better shot, and makes the match more even sided. I've had games in pugs vs. 4 or 8 man premades, and won a couple, and made many others pretty difficult for them. Just takes a little coordination. Some people are just allergic to typing, which doesn't help.

lol agent, indeed it probably does (I remember seeing that thread a long time ago) however.. that doesn't make it any less accurate.
EDIT: I'm a week or two ahead of schedule.

I've seen a LOT of 2, 5 is really rare. 3 is hilarious.

Sadly it was locked largely (i believe) due to a lack of imagination to how the official sanctioning of the MUCCMC might bring proper trench warfare to the free for all **** flinging fest that the forum currently is. But never-the-less I press on secure that my mission is righteous and that perhaps the thread for the second quarter of 2013 will be locked after at least 1 person can respond.
That said in my Capacity as the Head of the MUCCMC, as well as the treasurer, and publicist, and well the entire organization, I can no longer comment OT in this thread in the interest of maintaining the the already questionable integrity of the Schedule.

Understood. (at this point I've completed my mission.. post a controversial, but true, topic, stoke it a little bit with an example, and watch flames arise.)
Particularly love the insults without anything to back it up.
Keep it going..
(one minor edit: If someone can come up with a serious discussion of why I'm wrong placed in a somewhat adult manner.. I will happily discuss the issue with them.)

Alright, flaming aside. What you say is somewhat true. IF and that's a big if, PUGs could use all the advice you stated they would stand a better chance (a small chance, mind you) against a premade. This is true, however the chances of all the factors coming together in a full PUG that has no way to select its members or really coordinate before the drop is somewhere between not happening and you wish. Tis' the nature of PUGing.
Conclusion, your ideas are sound. However, you are not the first to have made them. You are also stating that the PUG skill ceiling be stratospheric compared to 4 buddies on TS, who have preselected loadouts that complement each other.
Adult enough?
