Does anyone know of PGI is planning on implementing voice commands? It would go a long way in a PUG match to have your avatar call out "Focus Fire on Alpha!"

Coordinated focus fire has got to be one of the most useful aspects of Voice Chat. This would be great for those without microphones.

I communicate all the time in PUG matches, it's just that my teammates don't zoom into my cockpit to see my hand signals enough.

No he didn't **** me off. Stats just don't prove anything. he could be a great solo player that hangs back, lets everyone else take the punishment and then swoops in for kills using great marksmanship. Doesn't change the problem for solo players. Someone has to be out brawling for Sybreed to rack up his kills.

while in the main i agree with you but it is entirely possible he brawls and gets those numbers. I know front line fighters that can get 2-3 kills a match and not die every match with quickly adds up to a 2-3 KDR.

After a several week hiatus, dropped in for a few PUG matches to see the netcode changes. It was the most frustrating experience ever. In 2 of 3 matches (that is 14 other allied players), only 1 did more than 100 damage. It isn't an issue of sticking together, voice comms, or anything else. If you cannot do more than 100 damage a match YOU WILL NEVER WIN.

I want to have sympathy for PUGs but I don't know if a matchmaker will help, I suspect if you put 16 of these noobs in a game, it would end up tied after 15 minutes with a total of 378 damage done.

Of course, if you happen to be a PUGer who does all those things, you still lack the focused fire and strat coordination of voice comms. Vs 4 (or up to 8, both in the past and to a lesser extent currently) players on voice comms, even if you play as well as they do, you are at a significant disadvantage. For instance, I go to check tunnel, I see 4 mechs coming. I fire my weapons, put my mech in reverse, hit Y (because Y stands for Team and T stands for everybodY, logically), and type '4 mechs coming tunnel<ENTER>'. While I am doing that, and possibly correcting my error if I hit T instead of Y, I am neither steering nor shooting. Then, I fire again, adjust my backup-angle, hit Y, type '2 Awesome Hunch Raven<ENTER>'. Generally just before I hit Enter, I am dead anyway. At that point, the chat buggers up whatever I was typing and I have to re-type it again. And anybody who isn't a fast reader or doesn't keep one eye on the chat, misses the info anyway. Not gonna get into the whole "It's a team game, join pre-made or die!" debate, EVERY on-line MMO is to some extent a team game. But please don't pretend that PUGing isn't a disadvantage against pre-mades, nor set up straw-man arguments by exaggerating the PUG position into 'losing 99% of matches in landslides' - a claim I have seen made by no one except those trying to ridicule the PUG concerns. Badger

All of which is the solo pugger's own fault for putting themselves at such a disadvantage knowing the sort of game this is and/or ignoring the sticky in the forum pointing to the tools they need to succeed, though really if they(pgi/igp) had put real effort into voip instead of that crap they slapped the mwo logo on last time this would be even less an issue...

For those derping on the OP get a clue. He's right. People don't listen or care to listen and just whine. In all the games I've solo played far and few actually type in chat or respond. I'm lucky to get people who do actually follow orders or focus fire.

It's tiring playing PUG I was winning a good few matches but compared to what I'm getting now it was peanuts.

Afraid to say it but the average PUG isn't tactically minded or has situation awareness of the whole game. Not sure you can teach battlefield tactics but something basic should be put in a tutorial, and yes before you grief I am a PUG player and I always give advice in chat.

Someone has to? You talk like there are no other possibilites. No one brawls for me, my 2 main rides are a Cataphract 3-D and a Centurion-D. I get in people's face and shoot them to death, scoring often over 600dmg per game. I have a bunch of screenshots that I could post if you don't believe me. Not that I actually care that you don't believe me, you seem pretty pissed off that a pugger do well while pugging.... which is weird

I like to point my mech at others and click buttons until they die. Does that make me a good or a bad player?
