should thermal and night vision be disabled in day light maps? im sure alot of us would agree night vision is pretty useless in day or night maps but thermal grants further vision in day or night maps, what do yall think?

Choice is nice you don't have to use it. So I think it's fine like it is.

i feel like thermal is a cheat, grants further vision in day or night compared to normal or night vision. why get that extra zoom module when you can just play thermal every game?

Extra zoom is different and sucks because of the engine restraints.
Thermal lets you see further because it gets rid of all the fog, weather, blur, etc used in the game.
It is not a cheat when everyone has the use of its function.

IMO when using thermal, you should lose some depth perception. Also terrains and buildings that are not heat source should be further blurred out.

mmm im new to this game so please forgive me.but not everyone has the range to utilize the vision that thermal gives you, example on river city i can just sit pretty at spawn and spam my ppc's from spawn to their spawn and land hits while they goto upper or lower city in the first minute or two of the game(while lrms have to get closer for lock ons?).on day maps wouldnt the sun heat everything up so you couldnt use thermal in day or atleast make it more confusing on what your shooting at?(and yes i know this is just a game)but why is night vision so usless even in night maps it sucks.

Thermal is too blurry in a fast brawl, prefer normal or nightvision for that. For ambushing, recon and the like I prefer thermal.

isnt brawling up close, face to face? im talking about thermal giving to much vision range and nothing being heated in day or night maps but the mechs and a pile of fire ...

Using thermal on Caustic is a bad idea. Thermal is used mainly to cut through smoke and fog and weather.
My previous post was more a general input about thermal.
(but yeah, tracking a fast light with thermal will blur it up a fair bit for me, even at a distance)

I don't know which kind of Caustic you've been playing, I've had several long range engagements there, across the caldera and around it.

fighting across the top of that crater in the middle of the map in caustic is long range? maybe for lrm boats with lights giving them lock ons but not for others who use lasers and ballistics who have to look over the hill and see the other team on the other side 300 to 500 meters away, plus these maps arnt even that big does anyone think ER weapons are even usefull on these maps other then the ER ppc because of its no minimum range. this post is about thermal giving way to much clarity and vision range comapred to normal and night vision(not to mention on caustic all that smoke in the middle is pure red and arnt mechs red in thermal? you said thermal cuts through weather and fog and what not but weather doesnt even show a color in any vision), thermal has extra vision range and highlights mechs and nothing else but fire piles even in daylight maps makes it kind of easy for people with ppc's and gaussrifle users to snipe pretty much from spawn to spawn. all im saying is i feel like im cheating when im sitting on the upper city side of river city map(at spawn) and getting hits on the lower city guys(visa versa) as they come out of their spawn only because im using thermal cause it gives so much clarity day or night.

It's the same range that thermal is useful on Frozen city day and river city night, sorry if I'm not clear enough.

frozen city has a huge mountain separting both spawns so both teams have to walk half way across the map to meet each other. with river city you only have one small building or two to side step or step infront of to get a visual of the enemy spawn/start point.

I'll just take a MW2 style wire frame display and we can call it even.

Apparently thermal is "cheating" because even though everyone has access to it, but some people have longer ranged weapons than others :)

This poll me give you a hint what the actual problem is:
http://mwomercs.com/...er/page__st__20

1) Low-Light Vision is useless
2) People prefer to use Normal Vision, but they know Thermal Vision gives distinct advantages.

People would prefer to use normal vision, but fear that other people using thermal vision have an advantage over them. But they didn't spend all that money on an expensive graphics card to see only tones of blue and red.

Next people will want everyone to play on 800x600 resolution because they feel a 21"+ monitor is an advantage. What ever happened to adapting in this generation? Of course my generation invented the restrictor plate on nascars.
