If your Dragon goes below 100kph, you are playing it wrong.

I have to agree. I love my Dragons, but I'd run a XL320 minimum.

Hate to add to the echo box, but the LBX might not be a bad choice here. Little lighter, can probably get away with just 2 tons of ammo (30 shots), suits running around fast. Use that weight saved and Endo to fit in a bigger engine and you'd be sitting pretty (it'd be nice to get the armour up too, but we can't have everything.)

Everyone, thank you theeese <----------------------------------------> much for the help and advice. You know how to make a noob feel welcome. I also learned that I was using the Ultra completely wrong, and now that I know how to properly chain shots with it, I have no problems using it. I'll be saving up for a faster engine and trying to work out my "can't fit endo" bug. Worst case scenario, I'll sell the chassis and buy a new one. Though that is a bit extreme.

To reiterate, I am unable to fit an XL engine and Endo at the same time. Despite having more than enough slots, and not showing a not enough slots message on the item in the market tab, every time I try to install it, I get a not enough slots message on the popup, and it won't let me apply it.

I even stripped every single item (including the engine) off and saved the empty chassis, but I still get this error. If anyone knows how to fix this glitch, I would appreciate it.

My Awesome goes 85kph, and I get absolutely giddy every time I spot a slow Dragon like this. Personally, I'd swap the LL for another ML, and dump the rest into the engine. Speed is your friend in a Dragon - especially when most of your weapons are set up for close range striking.

I have a couple of slow dragon builds that I get giddy in anytime I see an awesome, They pop so nice!

My current 1C.

Doing 104kph around the battlefield in a heavy is something else. Loving my LB 10-X, either slagging light's on the trot or point blank in an assault's back, happy day's.

I'm not sure why, but try as I might, I cannot fit both an xl engine and endo at the same time. I know this isn't right, but nothing I do to try resetting it will work.

Including full strip and save resets.

/halp

I just tried configuring one and this mech can easily fit a 320 XL engine, Endo, the AC, the Med lasers and Large, as well as a total of 11 DHS, two tons of ammo for the AC, and a SRM6 w/ 1 ton of ammo. It runs with a heat efficiency of 1.23, so one has to be careful if you're trigger happy.

I would suggest, however, droping the large for 2 mediums and 3 more DHS for added, continuous, firing.

Best wishes playing the Dragon.

This is where I have arrived. I enjoy the LB10x, but I feel the UAC5 (now that I acutally know how to use it) is a better option. Namely because the LB10x lacks medium to long range stopping power. It does damage, but the damage is too spread out, and I like to take accurate shots. Maybe I'll change my mind once I actually have the new XL in and see how it fires at 105kmh.

Feel free to poke more holes if you see them.

PS. I fully stripped my 1C, saved it, filled it to max with junk, saved it, stripped it again and saved it again, and now I can finally put endo onto it. That bug was driving me insane.

I have to disagree entirely with the no-slower-than-100kph statements. I do great with my 5N and a 300XL though my Flame flys at 103.9.

That said I think having speed tweak might make that difference. 81kph is a bit different than 89kph.

After considering it, I have to agree with them, though. Now that I've seen a faster engine applied successfully without any huge dps loss, it doesn't make sense not to. The dragon is too easy to hit, and it needs to be able to cover ground quickly. I know from personal experience that slower dragons can work fine, but in general, if you get caught up to, you're in for a tough fight.

You can make a slower Dragon work, but your armor isn't up to the standards of other heavies and your center torso is a big target. Speed goes a long way in minimizing (eliminating) your weaknesses.

To contrast your mech and see what it's really capable of, compare your stats with this: DRG-1C

As for the slot issue, it should not be happening. Could you use the smurphy site to recreate your current mech exactly? We can see what's going on then.
