No! Another useless post. :( What is next? Slow down all of the weapons to that of one shot per 10 seconds per TT rules? LOL. Just use your head and try using tactical manuvers and avoid getting pelted over and over again (Having your team cover you also helps).

It's annoying as hell, but not broken. I assume you're talking about 4 or more SRM-6 builds, like the stalkers and cats. Boy do they pack a lot of explosive ammo... tasty. Aim for their legs, get ammo explosions.

Wow. We can't have LRMs. We can't have SRMs. How about we limit the the players who don't have what it takes to face all the weapons in the game? ^_^

Thats pretty much it Rofl. Bit sickening for my centurion to die in 3 volleys from another centurion with 3 x srm6. IMHO, to allow multiple weapons systems into what should one slot is annoying. Lets take the altas AC/20 as an example, you should be allowed to mount 1 weapon system from the ac2 to the ac20 in the one slot, not 2 x lbx10/2 x ultra ac5. Same goes for taking out 1 lrm weapon to put multiple srms into the one slot.

You are talking about how current hard point system is geared towards heavy boating, very little to do with srms in particular. Your post is somewhat misleading; next time, please take time to organize a good, constructive post.

You guys are talking about more strict hardpoint limitations so mechs take "realistic" numbers of weapons, like 3-4. Something I'm for.

Fair enough Antony, sorry I dont post often and while my thoughts are generally on the current hardpoint limitations, SRM's where at the front of my mind when posting this. Will know for next time.

You know, if we got rid of the mechs and gave everyone the same gun it would be unbalanced because some people can run faster so we would have to make us all sit in square blocks designed to make us all move slower and fire very slow rounds at one another.

Why do I suddenly want to break out an Atari 2600?

Well, the problem with this is that some canon builds are, in fact, boats. So, if you restrict most mechs to reasonable amount (and type) of weapons, you are simply going to make natural boats even more op in this fps setting. PGI should have excluded all boat mechs from the get go and limited regular mechs in such a fashion as not to allow boating. But it is waaaay too late now. It was a fundamental game design decision.

So, not gonna happen.

Then you need to kill the other Centurion before it gets close enough to fire the 3 SRMs. No to your weapon limit also. Cause the multiple slots force us to choose which weapons we want to have more of. If I give up My AC20 I can have 2 LRM15s for more Long Rang Fire. Or O can have no Missiles and double up on Ultra 5s or LB-X Cannons instead of a single cannon. For every weapon boated there is a weakness to be exploited.

Welcome to Boatwarrior Online, where it doesn't matter if your build isn't balanced because you just killed someone before they had time to react in a meaningful way ^_^

The reason people gravitate towards boats or limit the number of weapon types is for simplicity. I'm personally not interested in four or five different types of weapons on any kind of 'mech because my brain can't manage that kind of complexity when I'm making split second decisions. This game moves too fast for that.

At the same time, as is being pointed out, the disadvantage to this is that it's easily countered and running this type of build means that there are quite a few natural predators roaming about the battlefield to take you down.

Countering SRM boats feels like the name of the game right now. Any ideas are welcome.

I like AC20's, UAC5's, med pulse lasers, gauss rifles and PPC's (or a compliment of my own SRM's)

The tough part is keeping outside 100m on them - many SRM boats run approx 80kph.

Sorry That is my intention with every build I create. To kill my enemy before they can do the same to me. That is how it's supposed to be in a battle.

How do you counter a 2 x ER PPC and 4 x SRM 6 Stalker boat? What is a counter to it?

Rhetorical questions. There are no counters to this superior mech; you can only focus your fires on it.

srms are fine it's boating that's proberbly more of a hassle than anything and i'm still on the fence about it, boating is apart of mechwarrior the catapult was designed for missle boating, same with the stalker and taking many lasers with it, even the awsome 8r 8t 8v varients can stoke up on srms.

another problem is the maps and teamplay favoring more brawling under 500m rather than snipers getting drops on people so expect more close range boats... for now.

That doesn't seem like a boat to me. That seems like a reasonable build that I wouldn't want to stand in front of.

actually 4x6srm is boating but really assaults fall into the catagory of focus fire or bust, they are the heaviest armoured tanks and deserve that 2 on 1 respect. 2 erppcs can easily be outgunned at longer ranges with lrms or more lrg laser fire. 2 erppcs are tough but he won't be using them more often as a cataphract can spam ultra 5's or a k2 with extra manourverability and heatsinks.
