Hi, I've seen a few threads from new players who are a little confused and at the start so was, and had to explain to friends what it means alot, the Term 'Critical' Slots.
It implies that there is a normal slot that comes into play when fiddling with mechs loadouts as well as criticals.
But as all 'workable' slots are 'Critical' slots perhaps just call them simply 'slots' instead?
Might save new players from some confusion

Just thought i would throw the idea out there, mabe its already in UI V2 ?

Cheers

It's a term that has been used in Mechwarrior since it started. And even before that in the tabletop game. I don't think it's going anywhere. Sorry.

I didn't think it would and was pretty sure that it must have come over from TT games (I was into 40k SHhhh...!) :0

It only occurred to me to post it as ive told like the 10th person on teamspeak that the word critical does not mean anything.
I dont have a problem with it just noticed other new players were.

I like the suggestions sub forum tho, the cream floats to the top ^^

"critical slots" sound particularly confusing when spoken by people with particular English accents. Sounds more like a description harsh women of lose moral standing than anything to do with giant stompy robots.

OR that yeah,
It just strikes me that the Term critical slot implies that there are non critical slots too, or more than 1 kind of slot type - and people kept asking me what can you put into normal slots?

LOL I'm British so just said that to myself in a variety of regional accents, A thick Glasgow accents works very well for the image you described,

Understood and agreed. When I first started MW:O (came from a non-CBT, non-W2K, non-TT background) I was equally confused about the lack of regular slots.

It's a "critical slot" because it's where the critical systems are installed. And when you take a critical hit, it's one of these systems that gets damaged. Is that an explanation enough as to why it's called a critical slot?
