Heat efficient, engage at any range. Has plenty of SRM ammo, slightly short on UAC5 ammo some people tell me. I do fine with it, though you could swap 1 ton SRM in the legs for 1 more ton UAC5 or remove 1 ton armor to put ammo in the 1 empty slot.

I agree with the 2 ultras being the way to go as many others have said as well. U do great damage at range and may continue as u close. They don't generate much heat at all I will actually cool as I fire them slightly, the larger engine size also helps a lot since I have run out of slots with every build so it helps to put more heat sinks in the engine not to mention getting into position b4 other assaults do because u r faster is a huge advantage to u.

yea, dual UAC5 is also great, but somehow the dual LBX felt better for me, thats probably because i like to twist my torso between alpha strikes instead of facing my enemy and wait for him to cut through my CT

I found a D-DC build that works well for me as a mid range support and brawler.

2 ER Large
2 AC2 (3 tons ammo)
3 SRM4 (3 Tons ammo)
ECM
BAP
23 heat sinks
endo steel
300 engine.
CASE

I changed the large lasers into ERs for extra range. It runs hot but I'm used to managing heat. Even though I might change them lasers back. The AC2s give me a good sustained rate of fire. While the SRMs let me hit hard in close ranges.

i ran that exact same build for a while, except took the legs down to 57 and filled out the last ton by swapping the srm4 for an srm6, saves you the trouble of dealing with different cycle rates on your srm's. decided i liked having large lasers too much, since relying on the uac5's for your ranged engagements killed that ammo supply

edit: and you don't have to remove 1 ton armor. you're at 99.6, so really you only need to remove 0.6 tons armor

Yup, I started with that build from Indoorsman when I first got my DDC, except I tweaked it how you mentioned to fit in the extra SRM6.

Unfortunately, I was way too used to 'brawling' in my mastered Hunchbacks and the low speed of the Atlas was just a liability in a brawl.
Once I get speed tweak, I may try it again though. But for now 48pkh was just way too slow to be a brawler.

I definitely loved the dual UAC5s though. They can be a pit fickle before you get used to them, and I hope they fix the jamming after the first shot, but they were still too good not to pass up.

But I swapped in 2 LLAS and 3 Streaks for better long range punch and for obliterating lights.

So far I've been really happy with my build, though I have to give credit to Indoorsman as he really turned me on to the dual UAC5s.

Whoops legs shoulda had 73 armor. Also it's not a sniper, it's an optimized brawler with long range ballistics as a perk. In other words don't try to kill someone at 500m or more away because its not what the build is for. It's for double tapping when every single shot will hit along with your missiles and lasers. It's for getting in their faces and firing everything... Until they die.

Posted in a different D-DDC thread:

I'm currently running in my D-DC:

STD 350, DHS, Endo, ECM, 2 MLasers, 2 UAC/5, 3 SRM6, 4t UAC/5 ammo, 3t SRM ammo. Armor to taste, fill the rest with DHS. You can fit 4 DHS in the engine if need.

I run at a 1.3 HE, and 62.4kph. Smurfy Mechbay gives me a 9.36 sustained DPS with this set up. It takes a while to overheat, and if everything were to hit on an alpha, it's a 65 point shot. You can bear down on enemies like it's no ones business.

I also run the lasers chained on group 1, the UAC/5 linked on group 2, the SRMs chained on group 3 and Alpha on group 4. IMO, the dual UAC/5s make up for the AC/20 because you can put out 20 points of localized damage double-shotting them.

I do miss my LLasers though. And I found using Artemis with SRMs is not worth it on an Atlas. You could get away with downgrading to a STD 300 and upping the armor tonnage, putting back the LLasers etc or sticking with Artemis.
