Shock top isn't the worst I've had, but why bother when you can get Franziskaner Weissbier?

Or better still, a nice IPA... like Georgetown Brewing's Lucille or Hale's Aftermath or a Oscar Blue's G'Knight or a Deschute's Chasin' Freshies or Anderson Valley's Hop Ottin' or a Big Time Scarlet Fire or a Dogfish Head 90 Minute or a Fremont Brewing Cowiche Canyon Fresh Hop or a Firestone Wookie Jack or something?

Oh... so thirsty...

Had a Shock Top once, and that Trippel as well.

Franziskaner, mmmm tasty.

A couple of my buddies run this:

The brewer (Kel) is a mad genius with beer, but their way too into the bitter/IPA "Hop Grenade" styles at the moment for my personal taste. Shameless plug, though my favorite beers of his aren't in his sales inventory yet. They're fairly closely associated with Linden Street in Oakland. Also some damn good beers:

After a trip to Germany for work last year I tried talking them into mimicking Altbier and selling it here as something completely different. I guess the call of the hop is just too strong these days, everyone seems to be making beers as hoppy as they can. Sort of messes with my head sometimes. :huh:

Füchschen and Uerige ended up being my favorites, but the latter was nigh impossible to find to bring home.

Finally, the lady and I went to a wedding down at the south end of Lake Michigan, and on our way back to Chicago we stopped here:

Which also had awesome beer, great food, and a great aesthetic. Highly recommend them if you happen to be anywhere near there. :P

That being said, I'm more of a scotch man than a beer man, but I definitely enjoy a good brew. <_<

mmm, Scotch...

No! Bad Pencil! Beer thread! Stay on topic!

Before I moved from Ottawa, there was this place called the Mill St. Brew pub, that brewed (almost) everything they served. The Coffee Porter was flippin' delicious.

If you're ever passing through Canada's capitol, make sure you stop by. The place has amazing brews ^__^ (It's also very easy to find, since it's right next to the war museum...)

Ah, 3 Floyds is damn fine stuff- had a pint of their Alpha King Pale down at Monty's Krown (great little dive with live music $2Carlsberg on tap and a line of punk rocker kids smoking on the sidewalk in the winter sleet -perfect place for me at 21, hope it's still around) in Rochester back when I was living there, it was a life altering experience!

I'll have to try Dying Vine - love those hop bombs - are they bottling or canning at all? I won't be heading through that area until I do the SRS in April...

@Solis -

Unfortunately no bottles as of yet. They're pouring at several places around here though. Monk's Kettle in SF carries their stuff from time to time, and is worth a visit regardless of what's on tap.

@SPencil -

I love a good coffee porter. In the not exactly unlikely event I'm in that area, I'll definitely look it up.

I dabbled a little in brewing a few years back, and played around with this recipe:

http://ourbeer.blogs...er-13-2007.html

It's tasty. Talked about trying to make an all grain version, but never got around to it. Now I don't really have the space/time/money and most of my friends who brew make a far better beer than I do! ;)

Everytime they mention a specific mech by name, take a shot.

Every time they mention the name of an MWO pilot who is not on the show, take a drink.
