you'd think all us 'beta testers" would have such tools at our disposal.

Sounds like a lie. If you were just running then you shouldn't have been in 40% heat zone in the first place.

Perhaps, perhaps not.
In light of the changes to power up/down and override, I wouldn't rule anything out entirely. Oddities in the issue he experienced may simply be due to a poor description of what he was doing, etc.
What would be wonderful, would be if we had a Training Room, where we could load in a mech, and run around doing whatever. Reproducing issues like these heat ones is entirely doable solo in such an envrionment, where it is not detrimental to your fellow players.
Come to think of it, a Training Room that let you roam maps would also aid in finding problems with the geometry and collision of the map itself, again without causing problems for your fellow players. (As in not face planting into a wall for 30 seconds testing something out, lol). I've noticed over the past few weeks, several spots (on Frozen and River) where there is invisible collision that blocks fire that has a clear line of sight. I'm sure there are a lot more to find.
Er... way off track, sorry lol. I just want a training room so I can track down issues and not waste my team's time

Yeah, it's not possible I had a fight several moments earlier, long enough to be out of the engagement but not so long as to have completely cooled off

If it wasn't a bug, then I would expect this the most. It would be the first heat-based ammo explosion I've witnessed (and shocked to see at a lower heat value than it should ever occur). Ammo is stored in the RT and LT and I had an XL engine in that mech.

If being at 70% heat is enough to let ammo explode, this is something PGI really needs to let people know. It really changes how ballistics work.

The system was just re-factored by our engineers to accommodative the new startup sequence and other cockpit animations. We'll iron those bugs out over the next couple patches.
