Someone remember when we could draw laser paths on the enemies armor?

What this video on 720p on full screen @ 00:25 secs mark. Notice how the visual damage changed on the glowing laser paths on the Hunchback by example:

Watch this new video @ 0:11secs mark:

You can't see incandescent laser scars on Dragon's armor. I see just glowing red area. Different what I see on Closed Beta video.

EDIT: Updated videos and images for better comparison.

No, if we shot on the chest by example, the whole front torso glows. We can't draw glowing paths like the video above. Now it glows by the whole area.

Also I liked the default paint jobs better in Closed Beta e.g. Yellow Catapult.

I see small paths of laser marks, still. Maybe it is your settings? I get tight beam scars.

Maybe the change has something to do with the glowing cats of doom bug that we used to have?

I can, barely. But the angle he is shooting the dragon's front torso is not exactly a clean flat surface to compare it to. For example....

You can see my lasers making a solid line across his torso there.

At one point in closed beta, you would see little glowing dots at every point your lasers hit. The game treats lasers like machine guns, so you would see 100's of little dots all over a mech as your lasers fired on it. That was cool.

Ditto. I miss the old Catapult, Centurion, and Awesome paint jobs.

Same, making the mechs all drab green is an obvious attempt to sell paint jobs though.

Yeah, I thought something had changed. I do think the old beta video one looks much cleaner! But an actually colorful map would help as well...

Someone should make a suggestions thread about this! (As well as the old forest map. Colorful Mechwarrior brings back the nostalgia.)

Some excellent laser blast marks there. I'm curious what your game detail settings are set to.

Well, that is different. I thought you were trying to show a solid line of damage along the path of the beam, which is what I still see in game. What you are trying to show me is a pencil thin series of burn points along the beam path. The new beam is definitely wider, and I do like the tighter cut on the old beam photo, but the old beam photo is not a continuous beam mark whereas the new one is which is really nice. Maybe they will make a narrower beam in the future, but with the continuous mark that they have now?

Running it on maximum. 31ish FPS is plenty playable to me, and I appreciate the extra eye candy. ;)

I prefer the old melted metal drawing effect. But I dont know how the devs can make it to be more continuous. I didnt see continuous laser scar on any game before.

The new beam effect is not a continuous path neither. It just make the surface (metal plate) glows where the laser pass through. It doesnt make drawings.

For one thing, textures had better resolution.

The optimisation hit those pretty badly.
