Well I respect the fact the dev need to make money but at the same time it would be nice if there is an option to disable selling off hero mechs at the options so collectors wont sell the hero mechs by mistakes.

That would be a great idea since some hero mechs just aren't that good. I don't say this lightly since I have spend my time to master all the founder mechs so I can handle different classes but that does not stop the regrets with some purchases. It might be nice if the dev can have a sandbox (practice area) to test out mechs and weapons loadout before spending all the hard earn C-bill or MC so we can find our style for the mech.

I too have some purchases I regret. When it comes to Hero Mechs you don't know what you have until you have it. You can play against it in a game, spec it out online, and watch some Youtube vids... but at the end of the day until your in the pilot seat you can't tell how its going to handle. Especially given how Hero Mechs often are "Special". They don't always handle like the normal variants.
At the same time, however, the devs need to make money. They DESERVE to make money for creating this amazing software for us. So "trading" in a mech your burnt out on would diminish their returns, and ultimately diminish the resources needed to keep this game competitive and interesting.
I think a fair compromise would be similar to what others have already said. A 24 hour "trial period" allowing you to sell the mech back, or give it 10-20 matches before you can, or a combination with diminishing returns.

Cause you are bored with it? Cause you want something new? Cause after purchasing you found it did not fit your style of play?
Need more?

I have never sold any of mine, and I certainly wouldn't sell one I paid real money for.
Maybe I am just an eHorder.

This is a good idea. Trading in a Hero Mech you own for a 50% discount on another would be a good way to alleviate the issues with purchasing a mech you don't enjoy, and it also encourage people to spend more MC. You would have to limit the discount to 50% value of the trade in - in order to prevent abuse and keep the option profitable for the devs. After all they deserve our money! But no doubt they also want to keep the game fun.
And on a related but separate note: There should be some way to "trial" a mech before purchasing it... such as in the training grounds or something similar. This would give players the ability to make informed decisions on how to spend their hard earned credits and experience points so people don't feel "cheated". It would require limitations to prevent abuse: Playing against AI only, a limited number of games per mech variant, etc. But this way people don't feel like they have been tricked by the system.

I know in my case, if I'd had to scratch and claw to buy something like a cataphract 3D (a mech that's expensive, and in my case one that took me a while to appreciate), I'd have been seriously turned off - particularly if I hadn't had a full garage to fall back on.

I've contacted support about a similar issue, basically if you've played the mech a lot there's no chance of a refund, if you've just got it - maybe. Stop using it and try emailing support...

I accidentally sold my CN9-YLW back before they replaced the buttons on the bottom of the pictures in the Mechlab. I was going down the row, clicking to change which 'mechs in my rotation were "ready" and which ones were not when all of a sudden "poof" there goes my Wang.
I had to buy another one.
I would much prefer it if this was like most other games where if you buy an item with real cash (MC in this case), you "unlock" the 'mech instead of having it permanently taking up a 'mech slot regardless if you're currently using it or not. So for example, MC-purchased 'mechs you can always remove from a 'mech from slot to free it up but you cannot sell them (the action is the same, but you get no cash back). Then, when you want to use it again, "re-claim" it later. This way, you always have your MC-purchased 'mechs. You don't have to keep re-buying the same 'mech again if you get tired of it but want to return to it later, and you don't have to worry about which 'mechs to sell off if/when you get to the 'mech slot cap.
