The MWO Wiki is a great resource. Check it out for equipment / 'mech questions.

Keep in mind, ECM trumps everything it does.

Since all mechs come with C3 targeting computer, whatever you see passes on to your teammates. So yes it does help your teammates. Lol, unless you or your teammates are within an enemy ECM bubble. Funny how ECM trumps so many things. :)

It's a little easier to explain if you imagine for a minute that ECM does not exist>

The BAP will help your sensors reach 25% further so you can press 'R' and get a box around an enemy at 1km (I think) instead of the base 800m (I think these are the numbers).

It will also allow you to read their load (weapons and armour) 25% faster on any targeted mech.

Since you can communicate this data to your team mates automatically it helps you and your team, just that you are the one with the better eyes, and it is your communications link which provides that information to your teammates.

Now let's imagine ECM is around>

If you are within 180m of an enemy ECM mech your BAP does absolutely nothing.

If the enemy mech you want to target has an ECM or is itself within 180m of an ECM your BAP does absolutely nothing.

If an enemy ECM is between you and your teammates I don't think the information is relayed to them.

If an enemy ECM bubble (180m radius from the mech carrying it) is between you and your target I don't think the BAP does anything.

Put simply if the enemy is playing smart and staying in ECM bubbles the BAP does next to nothing.

Unless you're within enemy ECM bubble.

Edit: I should elaborate. You can't pass targeting info to allies while within ECM bubble. You can however target for yourself. Keep in mind LRM has a minimum range of 180m, so you must target another mech. Also, SSRM is completely negated by enemy bubble, so you can't use them at all.

you're welcome - but I've edited my post to correct "If you are within 180m of an ECM mech your BAP does absolutely nothing." to "If you are within 180m of an enemy ECM mech your BAP does absolutely nothing."
