If they had set the year earlier we wouldn't have to worry about streaks, ECM, or the projectile speed of gauss rifles.

But they would also have alienated a large segment of the population that equates Mechwarrior to Clans.

Meh, even if equipping a Tech, that is better than something else, does not one make a Player better. MW:LL has both IS and Clan Tech, and Clan Tech is featured with more damage or range, or whatever, but even in pure tech servers the tide of the battle can go either way depending solely on the skill of a team as a whole.

It would be a windfall for them. With all the crying that would go on, you would see madcats everywhere. There are a ton of people that have stated that they think the current price scheme is fine, they would continue to pay, guaranteed.
