2Ds are better for light-hunting thanks to more streaks and lower-arm actuators, it can be pretty easy to get out of a 3L's firing-arc so they can't get a lock on you. Commandos also have a smaller profile than Ravens, and now the lag-shield is gone that makes a huge difference.
Jenners are a lot of fun if you like lasers and are faster than the alternatives (by a whole 2-3kph). I managed to fit 6 MPLas on my JR7-F which can give people a really bad day (although more often it ran around hills waiting to cool-down). 4 MPLas is a very manageable light hunter and can fit on any chassis, and as a poster above mentioned a JR7-D with 4MLas + 2 SRM4 (or SSRM2 if you're feeling lucky in the ECM lottery) can pack a hefty punch.

3L will be your eazymoder, though now mitigated with the ability to hit the little guys. 2D will take some more skills to pilot. Spider is really really fun and totally made of paper and spit. But as has been said, Jenner is still a class act despite the current meta. Meta isn't forever especially around here.

As a new Jenner pilot, I fear the 3L more than the 2D - the Commando can hit you more easily but if not piloted well can be melted in one volley if I get lucky, and is very easy to kill if it tries to disengage.
I will also advocate that Jenners are a huge plate of fun, except perhaps against ECM+Streak light premades.

3L or you are basically a liability to your team.
With class matching, if you bring a light the enemy gets one also and if you can't kill your opposite then you are putting your team at a disadvantage unless you can make up for it another way ie. reliably putting up the damage of a medium or heavy mech. This is generally harder to do as light mechs have smaller weapon loadouts.
At the moment (even with fixes to netcode) SSRMs are still most reliable weapons in Light vs Light fights.
The Raven can mount 2 SSRMs and the Commando can mount 3. The Raven is generally much better armored than the Commando and 2 SSRM+2-3MLs is generally >3SSRMs.
The Jenner doesn't have ECM and generally gets wrecked by ECM lights with streaks.
The Spider doesn't have Missiles.... and gets wrecked by ECM lights with streaks.

And don't worry about people telling you ECM is "easy mode". The entire point of the game and mechlab is to design mechs that are as efficient as possible at killing the enemy.
You won't see people claiming large lasers are easy mode and only using large pulse laser "for the challenge".
Is ECM currently very powerful with zero downside? Of course. That however is no reason not to use it if you're trying to be the best / win.
