So, I just started work on this last week-end, but I'm really excited about it!

http://proxis.midgar...u/mwo/rules.php

While most leagues have weight limits or even weight class limits, this one will have cbill limits. Fight over planets, defend against the invading clans, hire mercenaries, or even raid as pirates. Comes with a complete mech bay for your unit to field.

What's cool is the leader boards are different for factions, mercs, etc. Factions try to gain planets by hiring mercs with their excess c-bills due to limited available pilots. Mercenaries try to make loyal clients by winning for their faction(s) as much as possible. Clans try to get as many honorable kills (non-base cap) as possible while capturing planets. Pirates raid factions' and clans' resources in conquest mode for cbills and mechs. Rare planets have extra conditions due to harsh atmosphere (no ecm, no streaks, tonnage limits, etc.).

Clans can take bondsmen, mechs can be salvaged, and many will die as a few rise to the top.

I might be over-ambitious, but what do you think?

EDIT: Here are the initial starting items for each unit type. Still thinking about these numbers and open to suggestions. You need 8 pilots to attack/defend. The average (well-rounded) drop deck costs 45M cbills.

factions (ranked by planets):
+cbills (450M)
-pilots (12) gain 1 pilot when you (or your mercs) capture a planet
+planets (20) gain more by attacking factions or hiring mercs that attack a faction
-mechs (0)

mercenaries (ranked by wins):
-pilots (20) buy pilots for 50M cbills
-cbills (40M) gain cbills from contracts
/planets (NA) mercs don't capture planets for themselves
-mechs (0)

clans (ranked by kills of worthy opponents):
-planets (0)
/cbills (NA) clans don't win cbills
+mechs (55 - one of each) gain more by salvage
+pilots (64) gain more by taking bondsmen (salvage)

pirates (ranked by cbills):
/planets (NA) pirates steal stuff, they don't hold territory
-cbills (30M)
-mechs (0)
-pilots (32) buy pilots for 35M cbills

Don't be offended, but I'll be waiting for Community Warfare from PGI. Essentially what you have done (looks good btw) looks like the skeleton of what I'd expect in a few months.

I agree. I know a lot of people want the official CW, but I was hoping to at least tide them over until then. Who knows, perhaps PGI will like some of my ideas?

I have a feeling that the OP is further along in "CW" than PGI is right now.

We should support this concept (and probably this league unless someone has a real problem with it)

The worst it could do is nothing

The best it could do is give people who want to play games that matter, but dislike weight/class/whatever other limits.

Trying to tie performance and results more closely to the lore (there's a reason why people didn't just throw PPC Stalkers at every problem until it melted away) is interesting and a good example for PGI.

I would hope so :P. ETA measured in weeks rather than months.

You might want to consider switching to Conquest Mode, since this will make matchmaking a LOT easier.

Just posted some initial starting items to give a feel for how the different units play unique roles.

If you want to play conquest mode, you should create a pirate unit. There are easy ways to sync drop in 8s if you have 24 players between you and your opponents. You can send one group in to clear the queue. As soon as the queue clearing group gets the loading screen, both other teams can launch. They will get matched against each other 99% of the time.

Will you ban hero mechs? If not, then I doubt many people will be interested.

Hero mech's don't have a cbill cost, so I think they would qualify as infinite and thus not be allowed under the cbill limitations.

I have made up a cbill cost that is slightly higher than normal variants for hero mechs. If you sign up as a faction, then I can also make some planets for you that disallow hero mechs. I don't see why I shouldn't include them. This isn't a thread on hero mechs though ".

We sure do. Until he says something that violates CoC of course. Then report like nuts!

I have that feeling too :P

@OP: Check out NBT league rules, you might be able to borrow some ideas from there.

Yes, I'm talking to Barbaric Soul from MWL, but I have been doing this by myself. I have a good idea of what the league will be like. Hopefully I can finish it this week-end.
