The "making a mech obsolete" would not be a barrier IMHO, the main point of the hero is the 30% cbill bonus generally. Where a hero conflicts with an existing mech, the precedent is to kill the existing mech (Cent-9AH died to the Yen Lo). Although I would hope PGI would refrain from removing further mechs as a matter of principle. :P

And yeah, I'm still annoyed at the removal of the Centurion AH.

Also what we can't see... is if the mech has hidden "extras" like extra module slots, Jump Jets, or that Effing ECM......

But a fast moving, Jump Capable Ninja Assault mech would be the definition of.. AWESOME!

All Awesomes so far have 7 useable hard points. So I assume you are almost spot on but there will be no missle in the LA.
It surely wont have 3 missle in the RT because that would make the 8V obsolete.

Damn I had already forgoten about this, which I consider PGIs greates sin.
Stealing my AH!

The LA has a 4 tube missile launcher on it and to reach its rated firepower of 61 it must be a LRM15/SRM4 combo as a LRM20 would give it 60 firepower (with other weapons) ... However the empty LA would give the room needed for an etra DHS or 2 for the 1.38 heat efficiency though ... hmm lol.

Though joking and friendly outside of her 'Mech, when Danielle buttons up in her Awesome, she seems to become one with the machine, able to react as if it were her own skin. This has saved her on more than one occasion when surrounded by enemy 'Mechs. In one instance, she literally skipped aside with her Awesome, the Pretty Baby, to avoid an incoming missile strike aimed at her. Danielle is famous throughout the Successor States for her skill in piloting the usually unmaneuverable Awesome.

Thinking with a 1.38 HE index, extra heatsinks really aren't that big of concern.

Sorry i ment i couldn't re-create the 1.38 HE but if the SRM4 was removed it woulda been easy :P ... Anyway i defer you to Agents post, he makes it look easy.

Just wanted to add that this mech has a weapon for every occasion in its stock form but is a master of nothing  the only reason I'd buy it is for the XL340 and because it was DHS as standard.

If they removed 'mechs now they'd have a major problem of how to compensate players who actually already own the 'mech in question. The removal of the AH might not have been too bad back then as I recall it was still closed beta where they were resetting things.

well, never met a mech, Hero or otherwise I didn't feel the need to tinker with... and yeah, the apparent stock config is a big whoop to me....... but If I can squeeze mebbe 3 LLs on it, and 3 ARSM4 or 6, and go fast as hell?

If the game progresses to a point where I'd be willing to drop a chunk of scrip on it, I'll almost certainly get one of these. Then again, I strangely like the Awesome.

I guess we will just have to wait to find out if it can fit large XL engines compared to the normal variants just like the Raven 3L/Cent D/Aws 9m can or if its just a normal mech with a larger stock engine.

That's not how engines work.

Having a larger stock engine automatically raises your max engine size. For Assaults, Max Engine Rating is 1.2x Stock Engine Rating rounded up to the nearest multiple of 5.

The AWS-PB can mount an XL400.

With that paint job I'm totally running it with nothing but flamers. And a max engine that will go faster than normal because it has FLAMES on it.

Had to use the 9M base for the purposes of the engine since 8V can't take a larger size then 290. It gives you a good idea on the load-out, tonnage and crit slot allotment the machine will most likely use.

If you buy a Pretty Baby, you must name it Jengaman.

For those who don't know the reference to the mech taken from:

TROL3025:

MechWarrior Danielle Peterson
A member of Delmar's assault lance, Tagaki's Battalion of House Davion's Chisholm's Raiders, Danielle does not look the part of a MechWarrior. Blond and beautiful, she has what many of her comrades call "the knack". Danielle is famous throughout the Successor States for her skill in piloting the usually unmaneuverable Awesome.

TRO:3039:

Leftenant Danielle Peterson:

As a member of the Chisholm’s Raiders, Peterson has a petite build and physical beauty that is atypical of MechWarriors and seemingly at odds with her Awesome’s appearance. She is highly regarded for her exceptional piloting ability, and the extraordinary agility and performance she displays in her BattleMech have been well documented. Seemingly uninhibited by the Awesome’s typical lack of maneuverability, Peterson’s incredible skills have made her and her Awesome (“Pretty Baby”) famous in all the Successor States. Several Solaris VII stables have offered her tremendous financial rewards were she to retire and join them, but so far she has publicly maintained that her allegiance to the Federated Suns, and she claims she does not intend to retire until they are done with her.

main problem with this awesome is the same problem as the 9m. if you wanna go fast, those 375+ XL engines still weight a ton. so then you are reduced to medium lasers and srms. so then what you are is a huge hunchback, but you occupy an assault slot.

I don't know man, I got one with a 380 XL 3 large lasers 2 mediums, an srm6 and an srm4 and 20 double heatsinks. Full armor everything but the legs. My view on it is this: the speed of a medium, the firepower of a heavy, and the armor of an assault. I dig it. Does great in casual games even though its not exactly a competitive build. the fact that the srms fire as multiple volleys of srm-2s because it only has 2 tubes makes it very good a surgically coring an enemy. Only real downside is that its profile is huge but then again you are piloting an awesome. The other awesomes... meh.

I just want to bother people with that paint job even though I loathe piloting awesomes =P
