Then make ECM a hardpoint option, like AMS.

Some mechs only can carry 1 type, others might carry 2.

Disrupt: Jams enemy Null Sig and Guardian ECM
Guardian: Prevents Missile Lock
Null Sig: Prevents target box from popping up

TAG and NARC are capable of bypassing Guardian and Null Sig

it just needs a nerf.

it does way too much for 1.5 tons and 2 crit slots.

nothing else does this much. its mind boggling.

straight up nerfing, or splitting ECM up is the way to go. but a minor correction; null sig is an armor upgrade like FF

Splitting it into ECM and Null Sig System would work. ECM should not grant stealth. If you want stealth you should have to equip NSS which I believe takes up a couple tons, one crit slot in every location, and prevents you from dissipating as much heat while its active.

I have nothing against the current ECM. But, breaking it in the three pieces would help balance it out. It would also, requier a choise between what feature you want and make it a real choise if you want all features.

Making a HardPoint requierment would make it easyer to tell what can use it and what can't in the MechLab. It would also, restrict where it can be placed. Other then that. A HardPoint isn't realy needed.

MWLL ECM is pretty rad. It lets you target them and get locks, but you can't see what mech they are or their paper doll.

Also, if we're going to nerf ECM like this, then BAP and NARC need to be made useful so that ECM still has a reason to be taken.

Splitting it would be an interesting approach, but I think the easiest way to balance it would be to have the matchmaker actually take ECM into account so that each team has roughly the same number of ECM mechs. Finding a compatible game might take longer (probably wont even work for 8v8), but at least one team wont have the odds stacked against them from the get go.

The changes proposed in the command chair post are not the kind of changes that should be implemented as a counter (if that is all they are going to do). Sure, they are interesting as features, but they are not features anyone can really rely on; they are gimmicks. PGI is granting select mechs a no skill piece of equipment for the cost of peanuts as far as tonnage/crits go and they want people to counter it with uber expensive modules and a weapon that not only under performs, but actually requires some skill to use effectively vs a number of the mechs running ECM (lights). ECM mechs have nothing to lose when they equip it, but everyone going up against them has to fight an uphill battle...how is this balance?
