I just have the top completed, but i have run out of most of my blue plate pieces, I may be able to make it through the cod piece but I know i will run out by the time i get to the legs.
I will make them in a different color until i can order more blue.

very nice, thats the style of lego model i like most, with plain lego plates as outer shell and not many fancy special bricks. waiting for an update

I once built a scale model of the Mad Dog Clan Mech, kudos good sir, you have inspired me to try and build a scale of the Warhammer. And for anyone wanting to know, in good battletech fashion, I scrapped the Mad Dog so I could put together some tank designs I had come up with later. Seriously though Mr. Mantis, keep building, your mech is looking awesome.

Thanks for the support everybody I almost have the cod piece together (had to change it quite a bit to make the hips strong enough to support the model). and my wife found another bin of legos i didn't know about, so here is hoping for more blue!

I really like what you've got so far, but should add some of those flat, smooth plates over the bumpy bits, make it all sleek like the art.

I am trying to make it as "lego" as possible, and my wife said no :). Legos are not supposed to fit together the way they sit on this mech, if i wanted it smooth the built would need to be completely different.

Studs for the win!

(also i don't have enough pieces to do that)

In essence, he could go and create a model out of any kind of material to achieve that.
The little bumpy bits give it that signature LEGO look we all love. ;)

Now the hard part... The Legs.
I finished the hip section. Initial tests show that the legs will be able to hold up to the weight of the mech and still be poseable.

Now that i am at the legs i am almost out of blue pieces, and it is slow going, maybe another week before the legs are complete.

I will post some pics of the hip section tomorrow.

IT STANDS!

Just not as well as i wanted it to, turns out the top is much heavier than i expected so the knee joint is too weak to be poseable (curse you leverage).

This is amazing. All you need to do now is put platin on the legs and add proper feet.
I had no idea anybody could recreate a battlemech so acuratally with lego.
Good Job

Thanks, it is a very difficult medium. But there are some incredible builds out there.

just logged in to say how cool this is. especially that it stands all by itself. seeing such cool lego stuff always makes we want to build a lego mech myself... in digital designer, so there is no lack of bricks of course :P

lets see those legs getting finished :P

The laser heads, the cockpit, all of it's extremely well pieced together! You have my complete adoration!

I hate it how things like this become hard to find.

Wow you must have a massive amount of LEGO laying around! I have a couple of blue pieces but by far not enough to build a mech out of it!
