mw2 is not going to run on my 64 bit system,

sorry.

It runs on my 64bit system just cannot change controls. The whole point of GOG.com is that they fix old games up to run properly on modern systems.

MW3 so far only works properly on Nvidia cards. AMD users cannot play it properly.

It runs just fine on my AMD Radeon card.

I suspect the IP tangle might make GOG want to stay away from the MW series.

It would rock if they would update the franchise, though, to work with the new stuff ...

easily.

Speaking of MW2 ... um, if d-fend reloaded for dosbox works in 64 bit systems... it will, most likely, make mw2 work, with no problems at all - that is, the dos version of mw2.

Getting MW2 to work in my xp system with d-fend reloaded was a simple process expedited by an installl wizard.

Trust me, if they can get System Shock 2 from it's tangle of IP problems, then they can unravel MW2 and onwards easily.

Of course, System Shock 2 was the most requested game on the site, so it's not surprising that they would put extra effort into getting the license.

Did system shock 2 involve microsoft, playmates toy company, fasa interactive, harmony gold, and international copywrite/IP laws?

While System Shock 2 didn't have quite as many companies to tangle through, voting for the games and getting the MechWarrior community involved might help GoG realize it's worth the hassle. I would buy both games in a heartbeat. Voting is no guarantee of course, but it never hurts to try. Doesn't cost anything to vote and giving up before you start solves nothing.

Adding my self declared bumps of yore. We must be doing something right because MW3 is higher up the list then when this post first started. I should have taken note of the vote count on day 1 to compare to today, but if I'm not mistake, this thread has accounted for about 500 upvotes already. That's pretty significant but I know we can all do better.

So here's hoping people who haven't yet stumbled upon this thread take a peek and continue to support to upvote MW2 and MW3. For all you new MechWarriors out there, it'd be a great chance to relive the games that really setup an entire generation of mechanized combat. For the old MechWarriors... well, nothing new but at least GoG would update it so you don't have to go to extremes with newer systems. Win win!

I voted. Also, if anyone has any advice on getting MW3 work on an Intel i7 950 with 3.07 GZ with an nVidea GeForce GTX 470... Or similar devices. One of my main issues is that the game regularly crashes, but there was also a problem with broken/missing textures... Too bad that Mechwarrior3 Forums are inaccessible for anyone not already part of it.

Just my promised bumping of the thread. It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it :).

500 votes? Wow that's pretty impressive but we can do better!

Somebody needs to get all the PGI employees to vote!

Don't see anything in there about bumping, and bringing attention to a thread that many people would probably be interested in is about as far from useless as a post can be.

For future reference, would it have been preferable to create a brand new thread?

Nope, a different and larger beast: EA Games. So, yeah...

Also, I'm afraid GoG would just get the DOS versions emulated for DosBox instead of proper fixed 3D hardware accelerated Windows versions, which would sincerely, suck. Voted by the way, 3000+ votes completely outshined by 11000+ Grim Fandango, what a shame(not a bad game, it's just c'mon, Mechwarrior!)

I want MW3 back in the worst way. MW2 and Mercs would be great too.

(now if I could just find a way to make MW3's AI not pants-on-head stupid)

I want to play MW3 with this on infinite loop
