Now I am in a match and it's brawling hard.

A team mate and myself are hitting a mech between us.

We fire at an angle, but the enemy started moving past the
line between us and my team mate strikes me down, trying to follow
that enemy.

It was totally accidental. And probably lag induced.

Is there a possibility to have an in-game window that
would say:
Do you believe this was an accident or intentional TK?

In this case, I would say accidental and it just ends there.

Possible?

+1

It would be nice. i have been cored a few times by friendlies when in a crossfire situation and it gets annoying.

Also would be nice if it would be usable on those people who testfire into teammates at the start of a game.

I think they had a mod like this for one of the battlefields (2 or 3).

But, you are in a fight, someone shoot you and a window appears in your hud saying "punish/forgive", I really wouldn't want that window appearing in the middle of a fight.

I don't understand why they can't do a simple self-defense mechanism, all mmo I played have it, you get attacked by another player (non enemy) you have X seconds of self-defense mode, you can attack him and even kill him and you don't get punished

+1 to op!

If you get team-killed there's nothing hindering you from clicking the window, you're not in the fight anymore.

Those guys that always testfire into my legs at the beginning of a game are irritating though. Seriously, can't people take a little care how they testfire? Took an AC-20 to my torso earlier today, and when you're in a light mech, that seriously shortens your lifespan.

oh boring....

No, it just creates more issues. Friendly fire is always possible in war and can kill anyone. Just ask the Tillman family. I think it's a shame it happens, but it 99% of the time is accidental in the heat of battle.

Indeed, this window would appear once you are dead, so no more fighting.

It would just show to moderators that this was accidental or, actually, intentional...

you can even get 7 windows at the end of the match, this could get annoying (even 1 or 2 can after some time) and most time you won't know who shot you. and what if all the allies who shot you were accidents and you just hit the punish because you are a grumpy cat?

self-defense timer, you want to forgive you do nothing, you want to punish you shoot the hell out of them, simple

No, you can only die once. You can only do once and it would appear directly. Like, if I accidentally kill you, a window pops up saying "You where killed by Stringburka, who's on your team. Do you believe this was a deliberate kill or an accident?". If you press "Deliberate" it registers it as a teamkill. If you press accident, nothing happens at all.

All the more reason to have that system rather than an automatic TK registering that doesn't take accidental friendly fire into account.

The OP gave the idea saying that those windows would appear if an ally shot you, he didn't specified tk only. And if you implemented this only for tk you could still get pretty damaged by an ally without getting you killed.

My intention what for a window to appear if you die only.

In the future, you will get a report in friendly damage at the end of a match, so this should suffice IMHO...

I thought the thread title mentioning "TK authentication system", him mentioning an example of a teammate "striking them down" and the suggestion question being "Do you believe this was an accident or intentional TK?" would be kind of obviously showing that it only happens if you die.

But yeah, you can still be damaged by an ally - you already can. The thing is, if an ally kills you, (i think) it's noted somewhere that that was a teamkill and the moderators can see that on your user, if i understand things correctly. If you do a lot of teamkills, you might risk getting banned as a griefer (again, from what I've understood). What this would do is allow the dead player to remove that teamkill notification by clicking that it was an accident, so the player that hit them by mistake isn't getting as bad a record.

It would of course also improve the accuracy of showing who deliberately team kills - if the average accidental teamkill rating is about, say, 10, and let's say about 10% of people are just grumpy and click "deliberate" even though it was a mistake, they have 1 TK point and 9 accidental team kills. If someone has 15 teamkills and 13 of those are marked as "deliberate", the moderators know that person probably is up to no good. Currently, (if the average is the same, i don't know, I play lights so rarely teamkill) they'd have no idea if someone with 15 tk's is just unlucky/unskilled or truly a griefer.

It would of course not be a failsafe system, but it would have a good side and I can't really see a bad side.

+1 authentication screen. The punishment should be more sever for each tk within a timespan. Like, you are allowed on deliberate tk, after that they dock cbills, dock xp, 30 min penalty and then banned from playing pending a review.

I was shot in the back by ac20 cat. I was dumb enough to stop to protest, as I was typing he put another pair of slugs into my back. Then told me, I was the weakest link and that his team didn't need me. I don't know how this system would help me in this case.

Well... there is a problem.
Lately, I was encountering some douche who starts attacking me out of nowhere, grinding open my armor while no enemy is present. I chat "are you dense" to that guy and he just blazes on me with his HBK-4P, cracking open my ct front and rear.
So I take my trusty ACs, aim at his CP and take him down before he takes me down.
According to the methods of TK authetication you suggest here, I get to be punished for the TK... while the agressor was someone else.
Still pulled out 2 kills later that game, so I ended Net+1... but the fact that I HAD to TK someone really ****** me off.

(Clarification: I was slower than him, it happend in the water of RC, so there was no way for me to get away from him and just avoid him)

I think with the system that is already in the works, you will be regardless. People attacking deliberately on team is an issue by itself but harder to solve in-game; the best situation is probably to have a "report player" button at the end of the match. But as said, that isn't really for this topic.

As I've understood it, right now a system is in the works (or already in place?) that functions like this:
When a player kills someone on their own team, it registers as a teamkill that moderators can see on your profile or similar. Having many of these might lead to warnings/bans.

From what I've understood, the above system isn't in the suggestion - it's already determined such a system is or will be in the game.

The suggestion is adding to that, because that system is harsh on those accidently killing others:
Instead of automatically registering as a team kill, the killed player gets a popup that asks "was this deliberate?" and then the killed player can choose NOT to have it register as a team kill.

In the worst case scenario, it ends the same way it would have anyway. In the best cast scenario, it ends with a good person not getting their name soiled

Simple facts :
- If you die in the first minutes of the match, without enemy contact, then it's a TK (accidental or not, I don't care, people need to learn fire control).
- If you die in the middle of a big furball, amidst enemies, or in an ECM bubble, you are a collateral damage. in this case, your team is already punished because they lost your firepower.

No need for fancy new options.
In the First case : Report
In the second case : Either you or your teammate need to watch for Friendly Fire, you can't avoid it, but you got to be aware of it, and move accordingly.
