I used to think that premades in general would evolve a system where they each send members to PUG X# of matches to recruit talented Lone Wolves, thus a beautiful symbiotic relationship would be born. But what happened is we all took a dump in the bathwater instead.

I know the group I am affiliated with does this. Always new guys showing up in our Teamspeak.

Sometimes it's a valid complaint.
Last night, there were 3 of us left, against 1 enemy.
Red CT armor Atlas, Triple UAC/5 Ilya barely damaged but top speed of 48kph, myself in nearly cored Jenner.
Single enemy Stalker 4x ERLLs.

I know exactly where the stalker is, since he came back to the base to stop me capping. I relay the info to my 2 surviving team members.
They proceed to waste about 2 minutes wandering around the center of the map, during which the stalker finds and kills me.
These guys then proceed to engage the stalker 1 at a time and from different directions.
Stalker: good aim, good piloting, you won the game for your team.
Ilya: how the **** do you barely hurt a Stalker with 3x UAC/5s before dying from a near undamaged state.
Atlas: Nice try, at least you took one of his torsos off, try torso twisting to spread damage next time and work on the ERPPC aim.

If you're going to ***** on team chat about "stupid puggies" and make snarky comments about teamwork ( all after your own death, mind) you should at least make the effort to give some orders for us to follow. We may be indifferent quality but we're certainly not psychic.

If you are on TS with your bros, talking an excellent game you have a strategic advantage. Use it to deliver timely orders to your legion of PUG minions. Sure sometimes we will tell you to stick it, but that's because we don't always play to win.

On this occasion I was the one holding targets for your LRMs, then I was the one holding 3 Ravens and a Stalker off your ***. When I went down (and I was always going to, at those odds) I was second last to do so.

So how about you look to your own house, before you start complaining about "stupid puggies".

Sorry that Puggies are just too much dead weight and too heavy for people who can play to carry over the finish line. If you are doing less than 100 damage in a match the problem is you. Dont run out and get focus fired. Dont put LRMs or Streaks on your mechs. If you arent in an assault then stay behind and let the assaults tank and soak up the damage. Dont shoot your own team mates with friendly fire in the back.

I know you feel like you are getting bullied but buck up little camper and put your big boy pants on. No one here is going to hold your hand and tell you it is ok that you are a poor performer. You know why other people dont tell you anything, it is because you never listen. You run out in the open and die. You shoot your own team mates. You cant hit the broad side of a Stalker while you are moving around. You cant build a proper mech.

Let's call a spade a spade, the reason why you get called stupid is because you do stupid things. When you start pointing at other people saying that they are reason you fail isnt solving anything. You can only fix the things you have direct control over. Learn how to aim. Learn how to focus fire. Learn the maps. Learn the 3 strategies for each map.

If you do over 100 damage a match, if you are a contributing to your team you wont be called names. Your team is counting on you to carry your own weight.

This is excellent to hear. Currently I PUG exclusively so I have wondered what it's like on the various com servers dealing with varying enthusiasm, assorted skill levels, play styles, and experience levels. Could you possibly run down the TS experience as you see it, specifically the logistics or management of the points I mentioned above?

I mostly pug but do have belong to a group when I have time. The other day I had the pleasure of being the lone pug in a 7 man sync drop and well it was pretty funny. At least they took the time to tell me they were a 7 man so stick close.

Next thing I know they split up 4 go into the water on forest colony and stop at the first island. The other 3 which is who I chose to follow head off and stand against the cliff wall and wait until their other 4 get demolished completely by the other team which which I start typing, think we should pull the flank now or we're gonna lose the others. So I head off a bit ahead not wanting to rush out myself. Then they go rushing out in the water and get destroyed which of course at that point I may as well commit.

Lesson not all pugs are to blame for bad games. I actually find that lately pug matches have been quite fun and most times there are a group of 4-5 that stay together most the match and have had some amazing shootout type matches where everyone holds a line. Pugs know how to play just let them know what ya doing and you'll be surprised. Not all pugs are new players ya know....

He needs it to be, so he can paint all players who PuG/play solo with such a broad brush.

I play with FWLM, an umbrella group for about 8 different units. We have over 500 registered members. We have a LOT of drop bays. :o Some are unit specific, where there are organized 8 man drops or unit training going on. Most are general bays. Other than 'official' training drops I haven't seen any problem joining any group.

For the most part it's 'Bring what you want.' I've played with players of all skill levels. A small number of players communicate by typing, rather than talking because of spouses/kids sleeping. There are some guys that play a lot, but there are others that only play infrequently.

There are a lot of members who just wear the FWLM tag and are not in any units (though most of the units are pretty informal anyway). I've dropped with guys on their first night playing (never been shot in the back so much!) to guys that have been involved since early Closed Beta. We have our 'hard core' units that expect time commitments, but mostly it's just guys who enjoy dropping with each other.

I can say that dropping with experienced players is the best way to learn how to play.

I have yet to meet an angry player who was actually good at this game. They always fail horribly and instead of evaluating their mistakes, they blame others.

I am a pug and have about 1200 plus drops and for the most part nobody talks in the group. Even when I ask in group if there is a premade in here, it is still hard to get anyone to talk and give some directions.

I pug a lot or play with 1 friend and pugs are no where near as bad as people make them out to be. Of course you are going to get the odd team that just sucks a giant d (like the atlas the other day that hit my Raven 2x square in the the RT with a gauss and another weapon, that I cant remember what it is, and killed me while I was chasing an enemy) but you will also face the odd team like that so it evens out.

I admit, I have been guilty of this on occasion, normally under the following circumstances.

1. PUGs starburst and are dead within the first 90 seconds of the game.

2. Moving with PUGs, encounter same number of enemy mechs at close range. PUGs turn and run leaving me standing there with my junk hanging out.

3. Being circled by 2+ lights. PUGs run right past without bothering to fire a passing shot.

After these happening 5-6 times, I have to start watching myself but sometimes I just can't help it.

Ok, I'll be the first to admit the people you drop with in random games are not perfect. I had one this last session where half the team died with less than 80 damage. How that happened I do not know, as they wandered off from the rest of us together. But most of it is green mistakes, the kinds I made when I first started playing. Somehow, I manage to deal with it without swearing at people, weird, huh?

Some people, however, find it. . .

RePUGnant :(

I call it the pugflower aka the deathbloom, when every single player runs in a different direction

Whilst I only run solo, I can so fully appreciate that statement!

On the topic, as a player who only runs solo. If any player in a group starts to give instructions, it almost always helps as it can give some sort of group cohesion. Even if it's a short lived dying in flames kind, it's generally better than the above, aptly named pugflower...

If this game ends up completely anti-PUG in it's design.... it WILL fail. Simple.

Successful games manage to keep hardcore "outfit" orientated players as well as casual PUG players happy.

There are so many games available thesedays that there are plenty of options to those dissatisfied and they will go elsewhere.

If we end up pleaseing only part of the current playerbase (and therefore losing the other part) then MWO has less chance of surviving in this competitive market.

There are plenty of casual gamers who like to drop in for a 30 minute stint sometime in the evening after work, they have free cash to spend on their hobbies and we shouldn't lose these people.

My 4man drops usually try to reach out at the beginning to PUGS to indicate we are a 4 and what our goal is.

Yes, some do respond and they don't even have to follow what we're doing but they at least give an indication of thier intentions.

Other responses noted go along the lines of...

"Go to Hell"

"who put you in charge?"

"F*** off"

"I don't care I'm just here to play" (????)

My favorite response to these people is....."Have fun dying alone...."

I'm pretty sure much of this "pug-bashing" comes from premades who simply can't take the fact that they lost because they are just bad players themself.
Blaming "stupid pugs" after a loss is easy, admitting your own aim is **** isn't (atleast for some). Teamspeak won't save your *ss if you are simply a bad player.

Just a few days ago i played a match on frozen city and my team was owned pretty badly, with me being the last one alive in my DDC. Then this one guy started flaming like a 12 year old. Stupid Pugs, worthless flesh, his unit can't win the match alone if all pugs are to stupid to hit an atlas if it powered down infront of them. Needless to say, they didn't say a single word what the pugs should do before that.

After making pretty clear that worthless pugs shouldn't be allowed to ruin his game, this guy started flaming me. I would be the worst atlas pilot he has ever seen, a shame for everyone piloting this mech. I should just power down and die like the other pugs on our team.

I ended the match with 4 kills, 802 damage. Had the only kills on the whole team, we lost 8:4. The guy flaming me had amazing 82 damage, zero kills zero assists. Highest damage outside of that was 204. Noone of this almighty premade composed of gods in flesh looking down to us worthless pugs was able to score more than 204 dmg.

I'm pretty sure this guy created thread number 5 bazillion about useless pugs 3 seconds after this match.
