Even IN universe the Urbanmech is considered a failed and crappy design heck the fluff for the Urbanmech IIC says that even the clans couldn't make it a decent mech they do decent work in cities but that's IT nowhere else all he variants all the tinkering no in universe no one every found a way to make one that anyone wanted to pilot.

should it be in the game.. yeah but i think every mech should... but seriously anyone who acts like this mech is made of pure gold and doesn't acknowlege this is simply trying to cause drama and that needs to stop people who request unseens and clan mechs i get the clanners want to know what they will get when they come in people want confirmation one way or the other on the unseens... and you have a lot of people both ways who just don't know better. this is a sick little joke that's been taken too far let it die.

Jeez tough freakin crowd

Emntirely untrue, it's effective in urban settings, and is a cheap, useful mech for providing good firepower to units that might not otherwise have mech support. It's not an Ubermech, but it's not useless either.

I have been informed that anyone that votes against the Urbie being Mech 12 will not be allowed in the beta, and furthermore is a bad person. They will also be automatically "unfriended" by all their facebook friends, and will live a life of sad, lonely contemplation on what could have been.

I pay it gladly
mind i don't use facebook for anything anyway
and the game will come out soon enough with more than was ever in the beta for me to play with

SO here I am, a small militia on a backplanet with the threat of invasion and a need to fend off pirates from a few main cities. What do I do? Get more tanks? Invest in expensive aerofighters? No. I get a dozen Urbanmechs for ~13million C-bills and there I have a well defended city state. Thats why.

That still leaves you as a bad person. Your parents didn't raise you to be a bad person. You should change your vote.

We're likely due for another assault rather than 4th light. Besides, urbanmech's niche is pretty small (cannon fodder zerg mech for urban combat), so I don't really see it appearing in the game very soon - on the kind of terrain we've seen in trailers so far it would be obsolete.

I'd love to see King Crab (a chicken walker assault would be nice, especially having seen FD's redesign)... good money is on the Highlander though, as we already have 80- and 100-tonner and a jump-capable assault would offer a different gameplay than "being fat".

In short, nope.

I am nostalgic for the presence of the design because when I played "The Crescent Hawk's Inception" and stole a Mech from the Starport Arena, they sent an Urbanmech to "stop" me. Cause Urbanmechs are so good at pursuit....

Seriously, while my dream is to have a signature featuring a partially melted and blasted deader-than-fried chicken Urbanmech, the truth is that they are canon and do have a place in the universe and the game.

Sure, they are faulty. So was the Sgt. York AA system, and the US Army still threw money at it even though it couldn't keep up with the forces it was supposed to protect.

Despite it's flaws, it does have a use in defensive/close quarters where speed is less useful. Plus, any Mechwarrior that can survive in that thing has my respect.

Just my two filthy lucre.

Even Steiner has the Urbie as a mascot... they just added a Long Tom and a CERPPC. And an LRM rack below the cockpit.

Everybody ignores House Steiner unless they're trying to fund an HPG startup, or a 4th Succession War in anycase. Bunch of bankers.

(except for [PewPew2) he seems like a good Steiner.

Its a city scrapper / badlands terrain mech. A 30 ton mech with an AC 10 and good armor. if it hits any other mech in its class its scoring internals. If it jumps behind any mech in close quarters odds are it will shred the targets rear armor for internals. And this is just the standard 3025 version. House Liao replaced some of its models with AC 20s instead. Just cause it doesnt scream accross the battle field at 120 miles an hour, firing 3 large clan pulse lasers with double heat sinks and a targeting computer and all that assorted rubbish does not make it a bad mech - its a garrison mech. Or view it like a SPG.

I'm so excited for mech warrior i've been using the trash cans outside to pretend i'm a smelly UrbanMech pushing back the invading Jade Falcons. Half the time the stench alone is enough to scare them away.
