To Natasha,

Hail I will see you on the battlefield Sister Wolf

To the detractors of wolves, what mentality do you bring? The Falcon flys high and thinks he is superior until he is bitten by his prey and dies alone, the bear is solitary but in congregations they are strong, so too with the jaguar, though solitary they may group to protect each other, the wolf is a social creature, they live by pack law, and die for their packmates, they are truly one of the closest societal mirrors of humanity in the past, they fight and struggle to live, they live as a family everyone having their rank and place in the pack. Every wolf will pull their own weight, they will do the jobs assigned to them by their alpha, or they will be cast out and die. Living for something greater than yourself, I can see how this is something that many cannot agree with or abide by. The selfish squabbling of humanity. We are only our most noble, our most courageous and our most amazing when we are faced with our total anihilation, wolves are noble, courageous and amazing every day. Can you say the same for your own totems? The Clans which chose to use the creatures of the planets they inhabited saw in them these features, the stealth of the jaguar and its ferocity in battle, the slow plodding determination of the bear, the pack mentality and society of the wolf, the cunning and speed of the raven, the viper, the serpent. These totems embody us and we feel that we in turn embody them. This idea dates back to the native peoples of many lands on Terra who saw creatures who lived on the razors edge of life and death day by day and wanted to take in their courage and strength. So they named themselves after these totem creatures. We clannars embody these totems and follow the honor bound laws of the clan. In a way we are each our own "pack" and should the time come and man face their ultimate destruction, the clans could lay aside their pettyness and face it shoulder to shoulder. Woe be any being that enters our realms and attempts to steal from the empire of man! For the clans and even those who live in the inner sphere will descend upon them as a million million arrows, and the enemy shall die in the shade of our steel rain!

Snow Wolves,

We were just the target of a flame war already let us not sink to the same level as the detractors of our kin and kind. I have already given my rebuttal to those who declare that the wolf idea is overused... People like wolves obviously especially in combat units. So if we are more popular then whatever symbol the other guys are using so be it. It's difficult being the popular one.

I prefer to like Bears... Wait, that sounds wrong.. :( hehe

Do not let those who would try to distract you from the views of Kerensky. As much as I love canon and lore, this is a video game, and as such, non-canon Clans like Fluffy Bunny will be expected. At least you honor the words of Kerensky. I look forward to trials vs your Clan.

i know i´m late to the party, but as being (partly) a roleplayer myself, i can´t resist but saying this: as long as someone has a good story to back up his efforts, there should not be any problem with accepting his atempt to form a group/ clan/ corp what ever... honestly, with the hundreds of kerensky´s and, even worse "blackillerninjarobot1337"´s,how can we refuse to accept someone who actually puts thought into his unit´s background?

yes, i would moan if i ever saw a clan "pink bunny"... but i can´ t see any problem with the Snow Wolf

good luck to you and your warriors, see you on the field

I'm part of a non canon unit and even I would groan at a "Pink Bunny" unit.

Thank you for you comments and see you on the battlefield.

The guy who doesn't know that the word he is looking for is 'canon' instead of 'cannon' correcting someone on their spelling... classic internet!

Though really, if you're good people and you call yourself a clan, no one should pitch a fit about canon. The sheer number of players in this game is probably going to cause the number of merc units to be non-canonical in relation to the houses and clans anyway. More power to ya.

First I want to say I mean no disrespect to those who may be offended by what I say please read it all before getting all *********.

Ultimately focusing on people wanting to make new clans in the tradition of the known clans and discouraging and ridiculing it is silly and the actions of dezgra if you think about it. Ever since Battle Tech has been played online we have had things like Jade wolf. It is a real clan from lore but it was extremely short lived made for a specific purpose but has always been accepted for the most part in the online gaming community of Battle Tech.

I Wish I could remember the name of the Jade wolf I was talking to some 16 years ago on Mplayer when I was SaKhan of Jade Falcon TFS who claimed the Roshak name for himself. I question it ,challenged it and was offended by it until he enlightened me.

As I saw it Jade Wolf clan should have Wolf blood names not Falcon names as it was made up of the absorbed Wolfs. He told me that in the vision he was working from they were playing it as a blending of the two clans that became one with each other and not the way I was seeing it as a strict interpretation of the lore. I wanted to think of it as merely a short lived place holder created with special permission so as to be able to remake Wolf clan.

He folowed it up by telling me if I was going to see things so narrowly why was I playing out the invasion of the inner sphere if I already knew how it had to turn out in our meta game. I was starting to see his point after a while. If I was willing to be anachronistic with the war then why could I not also see other possibilities and unexplored paths?

Ultimately, if you cannot see other people playing this game wanting to make their own way and name in the tradition of the named clans who are following the zellbringen as trothkin to the other clans then the fault is with yourself not with them just ignore it or learn to accept it.

Sayla all Trothkin

Just a quick statement from me:

Is it so impossible that in some clans in seeing what happened to Clan Smoke Jaguar, from units from the Inner Sphere. That the wardens that have lived in the Crusader Clans might decide to defect and make their own Smaller Clans to carry on the Warden Ideal. I believe that Clan Nova Cat did just that. Now I understand it is not canon that others did the same, but I think it is logical.
Also there could also be groups in the Inner Sphere that seeing how the Clan Invasion went that might believe they are right. Then decide to create their own Clan and also adopt Clan Laws,of course this is also not canon, So it seems to me that if you go solely by canon, you would be limiting the game severely. Is that what we all really want,to throw away the creativeness that we all have within ourselves?

Boaz Roshak and Mezlo Mezzerak:

Your points are exactly where we stand on this.

Our goal in telling our Clan's story is to respect the existing canon and find the places where we can write our story between the lines of that canon.

Battletech canon is the body of the story that has been told and accepted as fact in the fictional universe. Nowhere does it say that EVERY story has been told.

There is PLENTY in the existing canon to support the idea of splinter Clans.

Thanks and see you on the battlefield!

Is it so impossible? No (though remember that at this timeline (3050) the examples you give are in the future).

Can you claim that it happened (apart from the instances explicitly recorded in the canon) and remain consistent with the BTverse? No. The BTverse has a very explicitly defined list of Clans. Yes this list changes as time goes by, but it changes in a very explicitly defined way.

You want to play a Clan? Pick one of the canon Clans that's available in whichever timeline you're playing.
Don't like that option? Play as a 'faction' within a Clan. There are a number of canon examples of these (some of which are quite fleshed out, others merely a reference), but there's not a definitive list (unlike the list of Clans), so there's quite a bit of flexibility available to you in developing your RP. It could be a unit, a Kindraa, a Khanate, a Great Cloister, etc.

Want to be completely independent of a canon faction? Well then play as a Merc or Pirate unit. There's no definitive (or even remotely comprehensive) list of these, so again, you've got quite a bit of flexibility.

TL;DR: You want to call yourself a Clan (not just as part of one of the canon Clans)? Play as a canon Clan.

Again Jimskavic,

You will see many Non Canon Clans out there it happens dont crush the creativity and growth of the BT Universe here in MWO, If you want strict canon go back and run through MW2 for remembrance sake, but dont come here bitching about canon this and can't that. You do not dictate what is or is not we call ourselves a clan ***** all you want here on the forums the fact remains we are a clan, we have a Khan, SaKhan, Loremaster and Oathmaster and we follow Zellbrigen. I cannot count the number of people who have come on here and griped. Things change it may not always follow the strict story of the canon story but there again history is written by the victors and there is so many other stories that may never be heard.... So politely go flame some other forum, respect your fellow players, and have fun. Stop making this some serious issue and accept the fact that you are not God here, there are things you cannot change, suck it up, play the game and enjoy it!

Respectfully
