4 Man Groups: Remove Them

Usually 8 man seems to be all Atlases and Ravens, but lately we've been running different builds and meet teams with different builds. Had an 8 man last night against a group that appeared to have at most 2 ECM mechs, if that. They were really coordinated and had 3 levels of defence. LRMs in the far back, snipers in the middle, and scouts/brawlers in front. We lost, and we spent time after the match dissecting the game. I think we learned a lot more from that loss than the wins we had. Don't be afraid of losing, be afraid of not learning and improving.
I'd be all for having the game balance one 4 man on each side, but even then there is a LARGE disparity in 4 mans. Some work as a team, others are just terrible. I'm hoping that ELO will at least help in this regard.

Okay, I formed a wrong opinion about you based off your earlier chest thumping. I might have to consider dropping into your TS server when I have free time during your prime time. You are, almost literally, on the other side of the world from where I live in the U.S. and so a good 10-12 hours difference in time.

Eve online you have interdiction spheres so that enemy ships coming into system can't join the battle you dont have anything like that in MWO because obviously the scale is much smaller and you can't get reinforcements. Its the lack of that kind of strategic background that makes the game a lot more shallow.


True, but people want to remove even the super limited tactical objectives we do have.

Oh these forums bring out the best and worst of us all. I'm with you on this one. I just don't have the ability to be good/nice all time sadly.

Fist it was how bad trial mechs were, then it was about the grind, now its about 4 mans? What else can you come up with to complain about?

In a Trial heavy Mech?

You need to have a bit more patience. I took almost 3 weeks (25+ hours a week) to be able to consistently break 400 damage on a non gaming laptop. With a Founders Atlas. Not everyone has cobra-like reflexes. Not everyone learns on the same curve.

Thank you for supporting me with my 48 years cobra like reflexes to approve :D no, I have not been determined, just normal, you seem to be missing the game ... or rather Tabletop MW tactics and do not wonder if your team loses ..

and if you play on a suitable non Lapetop for games, you're own fault and no premades, then that's just stupid .


and yes, even in a trial Mech can get kills and do over 100 damage when you learn how weapons groups to configure, handles heat, knows the range of weapons, and as a beginner, do not run to the front and tried to Rambo be, who does not understand this should switch to Facebook Games ... only risky excuse is a poor connection (Australia etc)

erugh, the number of people that act like being able to do 100 damage is the barrier to being useful to the team.

guys guys, if you aren't doing 300+ you probably aren't pulling your weight at all.

you don't need to do 300+ damage a match to be useful to your team. And someone doing 100+ or even less than 100 damage a match can be just as useful. You generally have your lighter mechs not doing as much damage as the bigger mech, yet those mech and their pilots are probably the reason your team won a match. Then you have a select few that know how to aim and pick their shots and get 4 to 6 kills most games but never break 300 damage a game. You can pull your weight by doing other things than just showing off your damage output. I have consecutive games where I have 4 or 5 kills yet I only did 200 and at time less than 200 damage total. It's called knowing when and where to shot to do the needed damage for a kill. Higher damage outputs is not a great judging point on who pulls their weight more than the next guy.

Well, and if a Light sporting a TAG marks the ECM Atlas so that 2 other mechs can dump LRMs on him... how do you really measure what the light did for the team? :D It's not from the damage stat or kills stat.
