So does anyone run a E8500 Wolfsdale in their computer with MWO running? Just wondering if my 6 year old sons computer could handle MWO for the wife to play on?

It would be nice to get her into the game and get her rolling some drops with our group. Gonna be interesting to see if the 20meg cap on my internet and the other computer being wireless will work.

You shouldn't have too much trouble. MWO's DX9 client doesn't like dual core CPUs, and the E8500 is a little dated, but it was also a very good chip. It should definitely net very playable framerates, paired with a decent GPU. It would work even better with a little bit of overclocking (The E8400 hit 3.6ghz effortlessly with no voltage increase; it literally took 2 minutes to do. The E8500 could do the same thing).

I use to have this in my current rig and it was good at running Crysis and MWLL, Now it resides in my 6 year old sons rig of recycled parts, EVGa 680i, GTX550Ti, Kingwin 1220watt, dual 250gb WD Blue with 8gb of G.Skill ram. So I'm hopeful it would run the game smooth enough to get the wife on MWO and MWLL.

Oh yeah, you'll have no trouble at all. You should be able to run either all medium settings, or a mixture of low and medium.

sup wolf. I run an e5200 oc to 3.5 radeon 6850 4 gig ram. Runs it fine med/low.. I had it running 1280x980 <something like that> bumped it up to native 1680x1050 today but theres not much difference at all so I think Ill revert settings for MAX COMPUTING POWER!

The performance tweek about 6 weeks ago did wonders for how the game runs.

Sweet! I'm looking to a QX6850 to put into that rig to boost it up too.

I was until my recent upgrade playing on a wolfdale E8600 at stock 3.33Ghz 8GB DDR2 and a GTX480 while it was playable just the performance was bad 15-25 fps in fights at 1900x1200 res all set to low.

I upgraded to a core i5 3570k overclocked to 4.4GHZ 8GB DDR3 with the same GTX480 and now in fights I get 40 - 55 fps in fights sometimes over 60fps but not often with 1900x1200 res everything set to high it looks and plays like a different game almost.
