In my experience? Not nearly enough rear armor on that sucker. I think my own Dragons tend to ride upwards of 22 points per rear side, with a commensurately higher number center. I still die to a** shots more than to front coring, just because I take so many said shots ducking away from fights after I aggravated someone sufficiently with a juicy drive-by.

You generally want about two-thirds of your front numbers on your back, or at least that's what's worked for me. if you're sufficiently badass as to never get shot in the back, then by all means, keep it thick in the front.

That was just the standard armor there, but that is good to know.

The first thing I do with all my Dragons is max out the armor, except for legs, which are at 39 each. Dragons seem fragile enough with full armor; I don't want to think about running around with my arms and side torsos with anything less than full.

1c 300xl endo doubles GR 4mlas 1 srm4 max armor except legs. Rocks all, been using it since the dragon released, started out with a 1n*, 1c is better. For proof just check my profile. Tried the 4llas build, didn't like it gauss dragon is better.

I can not stop playing my Flame. I've mastered Jenners, Cataphracts, and Stalkers but still have much more fun in my Flame. Don't get near as many kills as my 4 PPC Stalker but the fun factor is much higher.

I change weapon loadouts up all the time, but here's my current.

FLAME - 350XL, 2xLPL, 2xML, SRM4

Runs cooler than 4xLL and have found the pulse lasers great for quick drive-by's and chasing lights. You can also experiment with removing the SRM4 for MPL's or downsizing the engine 325XL for MPLs + SRM6. I prefer the extra speed myself though.

As a side note, it seems like light mechs are disappearing from matches recently, giving way to more Heavy and Assault classes. This build is rather range limited so in such situations a longer range loadout like guass, PPC, or LL will probably be more effective in the initial stages. But once the action starts this works really well.

Here's my current FLAME:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...77bcc737e43396c

1 Ultra AC/5, 2 Large Lasers, 2 Med Lasers.

The UAC in the shoulder is great for peekabo over ridges (660m is a rather nice range on it), and the LLas are to assist when the UAC jams. Mlas are for extra firepower when someone gets in my face. I can't alpha for long, but it seriously will tear up a section with all 4 lasers, and the UAC THOOMTHOOOOMing into someone's side torso.

4PPC Flame

I tried that one... it's fun killing the first guy you meet in 10 seconds with three 40-damage blasts, but the extra weight from PPCs (8 tons more than LLs) kills its long-term efficiency (not enough DHS), plus the minimum range is a huge issue.

You can fit a UAC/5 and AC 5 which makes for a good time... You must have an XL and other weight savers in though to boost armor and amount of ammo.

why bother? 3 AC2 is even better if you've got the aim.

my current build is 4 medium lasers, gauss rifle, SRM6.

other build i have is 2 medium lasers, 1 srm6, 3 AC2.

the first build is definitely better, but the second has a sort of roguish charm to it... it's just satisfying to throw essentially unending fire downrange.

XL300, Gauss, SRM6, 4xMlas. Either the Flame or the 1C.

While other builds can be fun, this is without a doubt the best Dragon variant and setup you can get.

AC/2 is not better. More heat and less damage. I've seen the triple ac/2 videos they take forever to kill something. (Even in the head)

1N 350 XL 14 DHS ENDO FERRO 2 large pulse lasers, 2 srm4s. Raven's don't like large pulse lasers or srm8.

I agree, for now.

I'd just like to note that AC/2's are not doing their proper damage at the moment. Their rate of fire is significantly less than the stated value. I believe it is network related, so your ping will affect your fire rate.

Presently I get full rate of fire (2 per second) in the Testing Grounds, but only 1.6 per second in an actual battle (16 rounds fired in 10 seconds). That's a 20% reduction, making this weapon unusable for me (tonnage better spent elsewhere). I would suggest that all AC/2 users measure their own rate of fire and determine if the weapon is worth carrying.

I do think a duet or triplet of AC/2's at full rate of fire might be useful, and for adding additional damage to LRM or PPC users where you're always tracking the target at long range.

4 large lasers and a lot of double heat sinks.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...20e2d90f62dd84b

It's simple, but can deal 36 pinpoint damage from far away, well out of srm range. works good to trim splat cat ears off before they close the distance.
