It depends on the competency of my fellow comrades. New players (I refrain from calling them noobs seeing that everyone has to go through adapting to undocumented information about the game) have to learn where to avoid the hot spots on the map. Trial / Stock / Non-upgraded mechs have to be piloted carefully. Some of those mechs (especially the 5V Spider) are more detrimental to the team than effective.
Where was I? Sometimes people don't use tactics. They run blaze-of-glory. They die within seconds. They don't know how to duck and weave. They don't know what a pulse laser does. A shiny red dot pops up and they attack. ECM? What's that? You mean our sensors may never pick them up? I even had a player ask in conquest mode, "When do we respawn?"
Communication helps when you are with friends. Tell someone to go upper city, they may go water just to spite you. You say there are 4 mechs at E6, the message gets ignored while they chase down a Raven 3L. Just try telling your team in chat there is an Atlas in front of you at C4; see how well that goes for you.
From now on, I go with the flow or group up with friends. If I'm going to die, I'm going to have fun doing it.
