I can't be the only one that has had way beyond what they can tolerate with disconnects and people just plain doing nothing in games. Something has to be done about it or the game will lose those that want to play due to scenarios like the screenshots below. I still tried to fight on in both games. I fail to see what they get out of it. It's pointless, it disadvantages the team they're on and if this is new players abusing the bonus for their first games then as much as I hate it I doubt PGI will do anything about it

It sucks, but they really can't punish people for disconnecting until they fix all the crashing.

Oh I know and I've had a couple of crashes myself but there must be some who disconnect every game for perhaps 5 or more games. If they do surely that's a sign of either a big problem or someone abusing the rewards.

Fix the crashes, allow people to reconnect then talk about punishing people who disconnect.

My thoughts are that PGI needs to keep a stat on disconnects before death.

Each week, any player who has more than 30% disconnects get their account suspended. They then have 7-14 days to show just cause why their account should not be cancelled, before automatic cancellation.

I set the bar high due to the current state of the game, it can be lowered. You can also skip a purge run if a patch has been particularly unstable.

Any account with MC loses those MC.

Harsh? Not really. That's why you saet the bar high enough that the only people you get are the serial disconnectors.

Go read the post about how the client crashes during game , then go penalize PGI for not fixing:) People are getting disconnecting upon log in, 10 seconds in game or 10 minutes into the game. So what happens when they get disconnected just before you kill them. Maybe when they suspend your account for this happening, you will be back here crying about why did then suspend me , it wasn't my fault :). But there are folks who dc like myself, when i have 4 lights or 4 heavy's on me and were down 7-0. Anyways don't wish for or suggest for to much, especially if you have no idea why the people are Dc'n.

I too was one of those guys getting pissed everytime someone would get disconnected in the game. After last patch, I was getting dc'd at anytime of the game for over 70% of my games. I actually turned off AA and haven't had any problems with it so far.

Make disconnects listen to Yoko Ono, That will stop them from doing it ever again.

IMO, killing/getting an assist on somebody who DCs just before death (i.e. 30 seconds?) should actually count as a real kill/assist and award C-Bills + XP properly (unlike how it works now). That way, people can no longer use it to deprive their killer[s] of their due rewards while also not roflstomping the few people that do actually have legitimate technical problems on their end.

As a for instance I haven't been able to launch into a match successfully since the last patch. I've been trouble shooting the issue as a good beta tester.

It's quite depressing.

I had 4 crashes in a row today. I actually started apologizing for crashes in advance because I figured I would eventually get re-queued with some of those people at the rate I was going.

Until the stability of the game is improved, there can't be any severe punishments, and even then I wouldn't go as far as banning accounts. Disconnects should be recorded in stats, but the easiest way to fix droppers is to remove them from the general populace (high drop rate leads to removal) and match them up with each other until they successfully completed X amount of rounds. By doing it this way, you give innocent players who slipped through the cracks a way back and you let the droppers continue to farm without ruining everyone else's fun (face it, you'll never stop them from doing it).

Banning accounts? Pshaw, gaming is srs bzness. If someone disconnects more than 3 times in one day, send someone to their house to break a keyboarding finger.[/sarcasm]

...or how about we just get a freaking grip?

They're fixing in the near future, where if someone disconnects they still have a death attributed to their stats. Check the dev posts in Announcements I believe.

i know this is more work than pgi has people, but have the server log when people disconnect, and then a flag goes up at x dcs in y amount of time. the suspected person sends in a log file that records how the client closed including alt f4, encrypt the file so it is hard to edit or be faked, and then base any action on the contents of that log file.
