I hear there are speed hacks, impretty sure there is as a game i just had, had an atlas turning and running as fast as my 92kph hunchie. he did seem to semi float walk a bit about the surface of the map as well.
devs should probably look into that.

The sliding, or floating has nothing to do with a hack. That's a graphical bug introduced with the last round of netcode fixes. It's VERY common.

An Atlas doin' 90kph? well that one ya got me on....

Get some video capture software and start recording next time you see it.

Get a video cap of it and submit it to the devs. I haven't seen it in well over 1400 matches.

Are speed hacks even possible in a server authoritative game? I know you can't use AC20's like machine guns because the server checks its own internal cool downs before it lets you shoot, so I imagine the server is also keeping track of what your max speed is and won't let you breach it.

Nope.

You'd just rubberband back to where you're supposed to be.

An Atlas running 65kph in a straight line can pretty easily keep up with a 90kph Hunchback doing some zag.

Seen a few hacks already. Aimbots, Raven with 4 PPCs. Armor damage (none). Believe me they are there now.

As you increase your engine rating, your turn speed increases too. That atlas had a 350/360

The other night I saw something that was odd but didn't have fraps running to catch it. A jenner was running backwards away from my mando at 140 kph, firing its lasers at me the whole time. Running backwards straight away from me. was strange.

Not a hack. Known bug were damage gets ignored. Happens a lot, actually. Thomas knows about it.

You sure it wasn't running diagonally to you while twisted all the way around? They do have a pretty crazy torso twist.

It is easier to chase someone then to pull away from them. You were undoubtably bobbing and weaving to avoid damage, where he/she could just move in a straight line. This could give the "feel" that a mech chasing you is moving faster then they really are.

I think we were in the same game. Atlas killed someone over the ridge towards the north of Frozen City, and then got to the South to stop us capping their base within seconds. I'd guess a Commando would do it in that speed, it was mental.

Of course, no hard evidence, but damn it was crazy. I remember the player was QQing about how he was now going to loose because his team were idiots.

Well, having a guy like Vlad Ward in my corp puts these things into perspective. His entire lance runs 64 kp/h Assault mechs.

They're very scary, and they get into position faster than one might realize.

Not saying it couldn't have been a hack (anything is possible), but max speed Assault mechs move faster than you might think. Its one thing to see a Hunchback moving that speed, but its another to see a 100 ton behemoth moving like that.

Positive, if he was at an angle, we would have been circling each other, his leg/torso orientation was clear to see at the time, I was maybe 40 meters from him
