High KDR seems to cause serious HC explosion. I'm a little over 8.5 KDR and so my HC stat is 69.2.

What is this stat designed to measure anyway? It seems to be kills^2 / deaths * losses. Wouldn't kills * wins / deaths * losses be more appropriate and scale better for veteran players? Mine would be 34.9, and that number probably works out more consistently for people and better measures performance.

This, because this HC statistic that was coined by the OP does not take in to account wins at all. Therefore, imo it is not very useful. :)

(Kills * Wins) / (Death * Losses) = ?

5.7554694507229218239873712912137

Whatever this all means rofl.

Take your total number of kills = 1,246
Multiply by your KDR = 4.15
divide by your total losses = 223

HC stat: 23.187

I play a bunch of different styles, brawler, support, some sniping... most often in a hunchback. I play most of the time with my unit mates but also do some lone wolfing.

I did not do that bad with mine.

Kills = 1823
KDR = 10.48
Losses = 170

6.17.

1181 Kills (for the moment), times 2.32 KDR, divided by 444 losses.

The number seems like it can change pretty fast. If you have a streak, even a small one, it can swing the number pretty far.

Stat is interesting, but I find that people with high KDRs avoid 8v8s. For example, if you have over a 12 KDR, its doubtful you play 8v8s for several hours a night. And since there's about 30-40 people any evening doing so, I generally know who does and who doesn't. Also, it depends on how often you like to experiment and solo queue. This is why I wish we had ranked and non-ranked games. That is the only way to get a good indication of player/team skill based on general games (actual pre-arranged competitive drops obviously give the best indication).

The primary problem with competitive drops is that it limits the population to the top 5 or even 1% of the population. The vast majority of the players will not have the time or ability to integrate into a competitive team. It is hoped that the ELO system would assist in the leveling of the skill based playing field, but w/o a matching system which also includes weight/component level matching or adjustment that, as you say adds to the ranking/matching process, also levels the component and weight variables then the matching system still will not reflect and level solo/group/8v8 matching.

HC: 14.25

Usually pilot a Jenner and 100% PUG. The metric is a cool idea, but does suffer a lot from the drop demographic bias that many people mentioned. It is still better than nothing at all!

I would love to see PGI's macro view of this including a few separate drop group size buckets. It would probably open up a lot of familiar wounds about PUGs v. Pre-made; however, transparency like this could really allow them to quantify their success to the community over time. This would be great to see before/after Elo is introduced. It would also diminish some non-constructive exchanges such as:

PGI: The new Elo system is awesome and fixes all pain!
PUG Forum User XYZ: Lalalala... do not believe you. The new Elo system is so much worse. My statistically irrelevant empirical evidence suggests that pub-stomping accounts for 235% of my deaths. PGI FAIL.

On another note: I know they do Q&A sessions quite regularly, but maybe we could start something like the "We the People" petitions for things that the community would like an official response to in detail. The White House picking up the Death Star petition was hilarious and I think PGI could get a lot of inexpensive community love for doing something similar.
