Just had one of those games that throws it in the face of wagers.
Assault
Caustic Valley
8 random Players
No ECM
No missile boats
One suicidal light. (dead in first minute)
vs
1 fourman + random players
3 missile boats and a half missile Stalker
PPC and gauss snipers.
My dragon is fairly quick (105kph) so I scouted after our light went and suicided and upon seeing the setup (a bunch of K2s on hilltops and seeing about 4 streams of missiles in the air after me)
I got back to cover (safely) and took the time to type to my team that we had no ECM and they had a lot of missiles and snipers, so to stay behind cover.
After some patient waiting and teasing on our part the enemy team took their position in the 6-7 line. (They spawned in South base.)
We went around our right side even the faster mechs (including me) throttled down to stay as a group. One of our awesomes spotted an over confident missile cat charging across the caldera (for whatever reason) and everyone at once turned into the caldera and ate him alive while racing back to our side to avoid the missile barrages. We repeated the grouping up and as we were about to come out on their side I decided that I would flank to harass the missile boats and give our very exposed team a fighting chance. (105kph heavy will draw attention)
It worked, the missile boat and snipers turned their attention on me (who was running in between the hills and taking shots as possible.) Our team swarmed a complete missile cat (he was packing at least 50 missiles and he was eaten immediately.
Their jenner attempted a rescue but on open ground with the recent netcode improvement.. he didn't last long.
Then came the K2s who suddenly realized they were surrounded, but way too late. (at the same time, their 3rd missile boat was eaten by our remaining awesome)
And all that was left was a half-missile Stalker.. who obviously didn't make it.
------------------------------------------------
There was no ECM on the field.. (which would've mattered little to us anyways, we didn't have missiles)
They were very missile and PPC/gauss heavy on the most open map currently in the game
and 4 of them were on comms.
By all rights of the forums, we shouldn't have had a chance, not even remotely.
-------------------------------------------------
Moral of this story? (which gave me warm fuzzies)
The only things that are truly OP are teamwork and situational awareness in this game.
Victory comes to those who adapt.

How did you know, there was a premade in the enemy team?
This is an exceptional game indeed. For every such game, there are tens, prolly hundreds of stomps from premades with above setups.
GJ, i hope you can keep it up.

Not sure if it's the case here, but a lot of times it's as easy as checking the drop ships in TS

Great read, and so true.
I pug frequently to try and recruit members and every time my team wins without ECM support I love to type out, "another game proving ECM isn't all powerful." And I type that all the time.

There are plenty of stomps out there- this story wouldn't have been anything exceptional if their weren't. This was just a case of adaptation and communication over ruling any predestined loss.
